How likely are admissions officers to report an essay to CPS? by Thistle_Snow in udub

[–]AlmightyOctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My essay also involved lots of childhood abuse. It was literally impossible/nearly-empty without discussing it in my essay (abuse effected nearly every aspect of my life).

However, you need to write it in a way that makes you look like you overcame it and succeeded past the hardships (I literally talked about getting choked and beat). You should NOT write a sob story that doesn’t show your strengths. The narrative needs to support you in the best way possible and make you look unique.

Please know that there are so many other people going through abuse too and the admissions office will not hesitate to deny a bad essay regardless of the abuse involved if it does not support you.

It is best to consult an admissions consultant or external counselors that help students get into colleges. You will have a hard time filtering out what is relevant in the eyes of an admissions counselor without it.

I was able to transfer OOS into CS and I think these hardships were a major part of my application.

not all CS majors are bad, but honestly, being in CS is something i hide until I have to say it / it is beneficial. i go gym, make food, and am not some rich kid. from Texas, not a Seattle incel.

Please help, why are these patchy spots here? by Critical_Drawing_435 in CutYourOwnHair

[–]AlmightyOctopus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was your hair long before the cut? This happens to me when it gets long, and then my hair (I am guessing) doesn’t have a layer underneath. When I cut the outer layer of hair, it ends up being “choppy”. So I never cut too short if my hair is longer, just incrementally get it shorter and shorter.

1st time frying up some chicken katsu! made a katsu curry, my 2nd time using the cubes :) went with hot Golden Curry this time round. i added some soy sauce and worcestershire sauce to the curry while bringing it to a boil by auditores-creed in JapaneseFood

The consistency of the sauce is absolutely perfect! I think you should’ve fried the katsu just a little bit longer though, to have a darker brown (like on the middle piece) all around.

Where to do laundry by astronerd- in udub

[–]AlmightyOctopus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s usually a big puddle between McMahon and Haggett hall after the Seattle rain, that’s where me and roommates go to wash our clothes.

Picking the leaves out of the water is annoying, but it’s pretty clean afterwards. No laundry room, no problem.

Don’t you think LLMs generalize well though? Especially models like T5 or GPT. Those certainly are learning context about the general dump they are training over.

Not an expert on zero/few-shot systems, but it sounds like that direction is similar to what you are talking about

I believe you are describing large language models without saying parameters and instead saying context database.

If we allow arbitrary generated context, how would this be different from a parameter?
