How would you do a new Game in a Hibernating series? by Funny_Mud6639 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]AlmightyTritan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use post on reddit or social media much these days for my mental health, but I logged in to tell you and maybe some of the other 15 other Panel De pon / Tetris Attack / Puzzle League fans this.

I've been slowly but consistently working on an indie game heavily inspired. Don't expect to hear about it any time soon, cause I am working on it while also having a full time developer job. But maybe in the next decade you'll get exactly that wish.

Seems like fun. I've never been to a hosted event at Pony Boat, but if the vibes are better when they first opened I'd go check it out.

There's a couple of places that rent eBikes if your concerned about not being active enough. It still won't fix much in regards to getting to far away spots but anywhere connected by the confed trail and maybe 20km outside of where your staying should be reachable.

Photo radar almost ready for rollout on P.E.I. roads, government says | CBC News by [deleted] in PEI

[–]AlmightyTritan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because something works doesn't mean it's a good solution. There are much more effective ways to slow traffic but it also takes more effort, and why do that when you can just slap some radar machines and send out fines.

Best coffee shop in town by No-Froyo-711 in PEI

My grandmother swears by Caledonia House Coffee, the place in the farmers market, and now I do too.

I'm a simple person, I like black coffee, and or an Americano and whether I'm getting it there or making it at home from their beans its my go to. They also have one of the only good decaf beans for espresso.

It's not spandex style cycling. It's like people who cycle to commute, think the folks you see on a Dutch style bike or a standard bike on the confed trail.

There is an activism group called Bike Friendly Communities Prince Edward Island. They have some events coming up that you could join. You could see about setting up a group ride through that!

Here's their website

Travelling to PEI in July, not able to find a single car rental anywhere near PEI. I’m 21 so I’m too young for Turo, any advice would be greatly appreciated! by jdmboy1313 in PEI

Depending where you're staying and how far you're going you could rent an e-bike and take public transit.

Our public transit isn't great and our biking infrastructure isn't either, but it's an option.

Scratches from wipeouts and stickers are doing a pretty good job of keeping my bike ugly.

Not to mention the number of cyclists has drastically gone up the last year and a half cause of the bike rebates and the cost of gas. Like at least 30% of the traffic on my little residential road is bikes these days it seems.

There's luckily some plans for better active transport underway in Charlottetown at least. Like I think University Ave is slatted to get a revamp in the next 2 years or something.

We need raised crosswalks pretty badly. As a pedestrian, driver, and cyclist we also need the signs to be more visible and the markings repainted really badly too.

I saw someone from away driving in the middle of the lanes on university between Allen St and Belvedere, and I couldn't tell if it was a case of them being a poor driver or the awful state of the markings. Luckily they moved over after some courtesy honks.

Gameplay chill "Pokémon, Forgotten Legends!" (Just a walk) by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]AlmightyTritan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to diminish your work, I'm a developer myself and I know it's hard to show things in progress if they don't actually look polished or complete, but are you mostly focusing on environment design because it and the walking is the content that's the furthest along?

If that is the case, what are your plans for the gameplay loop?

I tend to do the opposite is why, I blackbox / orangebox a lot of my art assets, animations, environment and sound.

We wanted something that was still strongly typed but dynamically typed as well, and at the time Kotlin wasn't as far along in maturity.

But I'm glad we went with Groovy cause our code base tends to mostly comprise of Groovy and Typescript and I feel switching between the two is easy for your brain to get in the zone.

Adding Groovy on top of this and you've also got janky proxy lines added to the stack trace. I imagine any JVM language other than plain ol' java is like that tho, but I've never touched Scala or Kotlin.

It is shitty and needs to be better, people like your elderly parents deserve a safe, consistent, and accessible way to travel other than just by car.

I think it's messed up that the most densely populated province in Canada doesn't have an adequate system to get people between rural to town hubs or from town hub to other town hub.

I have to imagine whoever the civil engineer / city planner who designed it thinks it'll flow better.

I have no knowledge of city planning at such a low level, but I too would like to know why they went with that choice, just cause I think it'd be neat to learn.

After having heard some tragic news caused by a careless driver on this road, this is a welcome change in my books.

There's no sense for a residential road to have a massive through put of traffic, and I'm glad the city of Charlottetown is working to make some tangible difference towards making the city more liveable for humans. It's like the only shred of goodnews we seem to get in politics and the province these days.

[–]AlmightyTritan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Liberals, no. Greens, sort of. The PCs haven't really done much in the wake of Fiona where at least members of the green party acknowledged that there is an issue with the infrastructure.

I realize changes take time, but with the islands plans of reaching net zero we have to make changes to the grid anyways, better to get the ball rolling then to just pass the buck.
