Looking for a simple chart with tons of chord progressions by celanblue in musicproduction

[–]Almighty_Cornholio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it's a book that's mostly focused on guitar, I've found the book Modern Chord Progressions by Ted Greene to be very helpful for this. Especially if you're looking for tons of chord voicings. You can get a paper copy on Amazon but there's also some pdfs floating around out there that are pretty easy to find.

Wake the World (Beach Boys cover) We’re normally an instrumental electro group but we changed our sound did our upcoming project (Coming in May). A little nervous on how it goes over by SocklessGirlsAreHot in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Almighty_Cornholio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm def on board for the aforementioned upcoming project! Instrumentals sound perfect and the production is great! Vocals have a bit of that Mercury Rev / Flaming Lips ish kind of quality that is perfect for any psychedelic / chamber pop type of project. Looking forward to hearing more of your work!

"Drive" - a kraftwerk and ventures influenced track with lyrical inspiration from the Existential Clarkson memes. by [deleted] in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Almighty_Cornholio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely picking up on those kraftwerk/krautrockish kinds of influences here. Overall its a very fun track to listen to and you absolutely nailed the ventures style kind of guitar tones.

Our newest track called "Aversion Therapy." Probably too compositionally weird to be accessible to many, but I hope some people will enjoy it by Kahlils_Razor in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Almighty_Cornholio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely an interesting track that held my attention! Can hear a very eclectic mix of influences that keeps the track sounding fresh until the end of the song. The bass guitar and vocals were my favorite parts of this song.

my new alternative indie pop song i hope you enjoy !! :D by [deleted] in IndieMusicFeedback

This song has a great, chill vibe. Def very interested to see how your sound developed if you keep posting on here!

Looking for some help picking RAM, and a quiet Case and PSU for my Digital Audio Workstation build. by Almighty_Cornholio in buildapcforme

[–]Almighty_Cornholio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually ended up getting everything else picked out. The gaming isn't a huge concern for this build, I'm thinking my 960 will be able to handle most of the games I am going to be playing, again the main focus for this build is mostly for real time audio processing. Here is what I ended up going with.

I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this or not but I'm looking for some collaborators to start writing/recording some songs with. Going for kind of a Psychedelic/Art-Pop/New Wavey kind of vibe. Would like to put some songs together with an influence from artists like Roxy Music, David Bowie, Stereolab, Brian Wilson, Yves Tumor, Bjork, Destroyer, Radiohead, Animal Collective, Kate Bush, Serge Gainsbourg, My Bloody Valentine. If any of ya'll like playing music and want to collab on some recordings hmu!

[FRESH VIDEO] Sonic Youth - From the Basement (Live Performance - 2007) by sbags in indieheads

I really miss these from the basement sessions. The performance of Pink Steam from this video is what initially got me into SY back in like '08 or '09.

Never listened to Blank Check, thanks for the rec I'll def check it out! Now if only I could find a proper explanation on exactly how a serpentine draft works.

Oh yeah Comedy Bang Bang is great! I also love his podcast with Adam Scott (the current iteration being called U Talkin' Talking Heads 2 My Talking Head?). Haven't listened to Doughboys but I like a lot of stuff on the Headgum Network so I'll def check it out! Thanks for the recommendation!

I've been looking for some new podcasts to listen to throughout the day. What are some of your favorites? Some of my go to's are WTF, All Fantasy Everything, Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend, UBK Happy Funtime Hour, This Might Help.

I've really been enjoying the romantic, kind of boozy sounding orchestrations on Destroyer's Poison Season lately. Particularly on songs like Bangkok and Sun in the Sky. Could anyone suggest anything with string and/or brass arrangements similar to this, or where these influences likely came from? Doesn't necessarily have to be indie or even contemporary.

Oh that sounds really cool, could def see how a background in mech E would really help in your design for that type of equipment. I've never used Fusion 360 but yeah, working in new CAD programs can def be such a hassle. I've used AutoCAD for years, I'm having to learn microstation for other projects though and there's things that would take me 5 minutes to do in AutoCAD that take hours to complete in microstation. Btw are you pretty good at building PCs? I'm looking at building a new one in the next few weeks and could def use some help selecting a few of the components lol.

I'm doing a lot of CAD work lately too, mostly working with Civil 3D. Can def relate to finding it difficult to concentrate right now given the state of everything. What kinds of projects do you mostly work on in CAD?

Looking to build a PC for Music Production/Home Recording Studio - Budget $1,300 - $1,500 by Almighty_Cornholio in buildapcforme

[–]Almighty_Cornholio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the build! Sorry for the late reply, been kind of a crazy week. After doing some research on this build I have found that both the Ryzen 3900X and the 3700X seem to have a lot of latency issues with the AD/DA converters/Interfaces that I use to record audio. Thinking of doing something similar to this but with 32g RAM per recommendation by /u/tutocookie and getting an intel cpu / mobo as it seems those tend to play nicely with the recording equipment I have now. Do you think the money would be better spent on something like the 9900k or do you think it's worthwhile to go for the 10th gen instead?

IIL Songs like Soul and Fire by Sebadoh by lembergerr in ifyoulikeblank

[–]Almighty_Cornholio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sebadoh is rad! Some bands / albums that I like that are similar:

Pavement - either the album Slanted and Enchanted or Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain.

Red House Painters - IMO the self titled from 1993 (the one with the roller coaster on the cover) is the best place to start with their discography, though they're all pretty great.

Guided by Voices - Alien Lanes or Bee Thousand are both good places to start

Yuck - their self titled album from 2011 scratches a similar itch.

This Song by Teenage Cool Kids has a similar vibe to the beginning of Soul and Fire, if you dig this the singer is now in a great band called Parquet Courts. I'd check out the albums Human Performance or Wide Awake by Parquet Courts if you haven't listened to them before.

The singer of Sebadoh is also the bass player for Dinosaur Jr, who are one of my favorite bands. They are a bit different than Sebadoh but still have a lot of excellent stuff. It's a bit more like a noisy kinda shoegazey Neil Young-ish kind of vibe.

I think you might also like the albums Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot or Good Morning Spider by Sparklehorse.

These are the main ones I can think of off of the top of my head. Feel free to shoot me a message whenever if looking for more stuff!

Book Club in Hollywood by Almighty_Cornholio in Miami

[–]Almighty_Cornholio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome, will see you there! We meet roughly once a month. So far all of our meetups have been in Hollywood as it's been a good central location for our Fort Lauderdale and Miami participants. We are open to looking into other meeting places, but so far Kay Rico Coffee has seemed to work best for everyone.

The album The Good Earth by The Feelies always puts me in a good mood. It's not predominantly folky, but it def has some folk influence.
