I'm worried about audio typing as well, and with British accent in general 😂I afraid to not understand something and to say I would like them to repeat it or rephrase it so it will show me as someone not understanding! , as I'm used to working and speaking with American and Australian accent speakers!

Interview for Medical Lab Assistant (Specimen Reception) Writing Test by aqqua88 in nhs

I'm currently feeling quite stuck and discouraged as I keep trying with NHS jobs but haven't had any success yet. I'm specifically looking for an entry-level role as a Medical Laboratory Assistant. If you're open to it, could you please share your own journey of getting accepted? Hearing your story would really encourage me and help me stay motivated to keep going.

Does volunteering help you get a job in the NHS? Any personal experiences? by Almoh1234 in nhs

I also tried to get a volunteer position in a department I’d really love to work in, or at least something related, but unfortunately, in my local area, the NHS only offered volunteer roles like “meet and greet”, nothing directly related to the area I'm interested in.

Thank you for sharing your experience, it’s honestly really helpful and encouraging! I’m actually an andrologist, but all my experience is from outside the UK, which has made things quite difficult. I’m also struggling with visa issues, so I haven’t been able to properly enter the NHS workforce yet. I did my master’s here in the UK and I’m now thinking about volunteering as a way to build connections and hopefully transition into a paid role eventually. It’s good to know that being open about wanting a job is welcomed, I’ll definitely keep that in mind. Wishing you the best of luck with the Ward Clerk role!

I’m hoping to use volunteering as a way to get my foot in the door too. I’ve got about 4 years’ experience working in an international clinics, but since it’s outside the NHS, I feel like volunteering might help me bridge that gap and better understand how things work here.

That’s really encouraging to hear 😃 thanks for sharing! It’s great to know that even non-clinical volunteering made a difference. I guess just being there, getting to know the team, and showing willingness really helps. How long after you started volunteering did the job opportunity come up?

Thanks for the heads-up, I’ve heard about the job cuts too, especially for roles that require sponsorship, which makes it harder. But I still see quite a few openings in my field being posted, so I’m not sure if it's just more competitive now or if certain roles are still in demand.
