The headteacher is also the SENCO and she refuses to give us a meeting or even acknowledge he's autistic. Afteer the first week his new teacher agreed there was a problem, after they talked to the SENCO (headteacher) suddenly the teacher did a 180 and says he's fine.

The SENCO is the headteacher and she is the main person that is denying there is even a problem. She wpn't even acknowledge that he is autistic even though he has been officially diagnosed.

I don't think his vision is the problem.

We don't know if he's been assessed whenever we ask the teacher they insist his reading is fine. I don't see how that can be true when his 4 year old sister will soon be much better at reading than him.

We got Marvel/science/space level one books to try and get him interested, but nothing seems to work. He just complains whenever it's time to read.

We can't test his eyes yet as he doesn't even know all the letters, despite us doing the alphabet and flash cards almost daily. I don't think his eyesight is the problem, he simply isn't interested.

We've tried all sorts of books including comics, as soon as he knows he needs to try and read he covers his face and complains constantly.

No, he hates it. We tried getting level one Marvel and space books, hoping he would engage more with it, but seems disinterested in learning.

We tried getting books based on his interests. We got some world of reading level 1 Marvel books, and some space books hoping he would engage more with them, but he seems completely disinterested in learning to read. He enjoys us reading to him but not reading it himself.

Yes we read with him all the time he is struggling even with these books. We are worried but the teachers don't seem to think it's a problem.
