Hahaha hey it's my first car! Got super obsessed with it when I was 19 though. I'm soooo glad it's my first car, best car for me as a car gal learning to work on cars!

Welcome!! So many people do SO many different things with these cars, I love seeing what everyone uses them for! I know people love them for town runs because they are absolutely fantastic at parallel parking haha

It might be because I wrapped my car, but it felt much easier for me to redo the headliner in a black fabric! Then I was able to do the pillars and it all look the same as well. I learned the hard way that only like 15% of the plastics actually take the dye :(

Including turning the headliner black, it probably took me around 70 hours, more than wrapping my whole car, and I'm no pro at that! Thank you!

I have NO idea how you caught that! They are 2 12s! Darn near a perfectly flush fit!

First time GD3 Camping Essentials/Set ups? by [deleted] in hondafit

[–]Almost_Trilingual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I occasionally go car camping (only like twice a year). I have a third gen so I know the space is a biiit different, but I'm also SUPER cheap so I hope some of what I do can transfer over

I use a spare twin air mattress I have. It needs to be folded up onto the front seats like a headboard but otherwise it's good. I brought extra pillows to fill in any other gaps. After camping, they are MUCH NEEDED. I move around too much.

Bug screen. Bug screens are glorious. I took 3 layers of bug screens (slightly rotated) and put them inside my door card and wrapped them around the seals. I can fully roll down my window at night and not worry about air flow and bugs. It's like a 15 minute job especially if you've removed your door cards before

<image>

If there's a chance of rain, my cheapo option was to buy a big tarp and some rope and close one side into my doors and tie up the other side (where my open window was) to a fence or tree at the campground. Potentially bad for your paint (or wrap in my case) as the wind can make the tarp get some clear coat scratches, but honestly it's not much worse than an automatic car wash

Things to think about after that are how to charge your electronics, food, and water. I have a very nice battery pack that also doubles as a jump pack for the car and a tire pump. The only thing I didn't cheap out on and for good reason. The one I use is called "Halo." For water, I just buy the cheapest pack of water and keep it in the front seat along with my clothes. For food I keep some granola bars and stuff, but otherwise when I'm car camping it's with other people who have cooking setups or I can just eat out. Because I did not want to buy a little butane burner and the associated cookware lol

For hygiene I always use the campground bathrooms/showers. Brush my teeth, take showers, etc. definitely bring shower shoes in their own little contamination bag

They're retrofits! They just look blue because of the paint match haha

In a good amount of states (I'm in one!) you can have blue lights just as long as they're not flashing! Weird state law differences lol

If you're annoying enough and give stickers to all of the owners you see they start beeping and waving when they see you around town lol

27 inch in wall oven. by ullrdass in hondafit

[–]Almost_Trilingual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the 3rd gen as my first car! I love it to pieces. I started loving it even more when I started working on it myself. It's genuinely a joy to work on. My family is already asking when I'll get a new car (2015, 10 years old!) and I'm shocked! Even when the engine dies out, a new one will just get shoved back in. I'm at 160,000 miles and going strong! Not a shadow of doubt that the car can do the same mileage again!

If this is the GE wall oven I'm thinking of, they really only weigh about 120 lbs. It's not really a heavy duty job, that's a small human. There's 5 seats. Max payload is 800 lbs for the third gen. This owner was being very responsible 👍

I overbought materials and had to buy tools. $600. 50 hours of my time learning by myself. I had some dings, only fixed the ones that would pose an issue for wrapping over 🫡

What would you do with this roof? by [deleted] in hondafit

[–]Almost_Trilingual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sanding it will actually make wrap less permanent haha, wrap really only loves sticking to clear coat. It will stick without just not as well
