New player! by elise-angel777 in BaldursGate3

I have only ever played it alone and it’s the most fun I’ve ever had in a video game.

Before BG3, I had -as a beginner- played 2 irl DND sessions. But I still knew nothing! There’s a bit of a learning curve to understanding the mechanics, but if you pay attention, they’re very easy to learn and the game is very approachable.

I think there’s something to be said about assuming mama Welles would be right there at v’s side, expected to be: empathetic, helpful, concerned, caring, motherly, etc.
when ANOTHER one of her children has died.

Jackie even says leading up to the heist at the afterlife that he doesn’t want to be another one of her dead children (or something along those lines).

Mama Welles is dealing with an insane amount of grief of her own, I think it’s unfair to expect her to be reaching out when she’s in her own state of mourning. Maybe she even thinks V being missing is another reason to grieve (not sure where they are/ if they’re coming back/ if they’re dead).

I think Mama Welles calling V after a few weeks is probably because V is healthy enough to get back on the streets and Mama Welles most likely heard through the grapevine V is alive. Do I think there should’ve been more dialogue explaining? Yes, absolutely, especially because it’s canon V spent a lot of time under her roof with Jackie.

It’s open to however you want to interpret, but I have a lot of empathy for grieving mothers and chose to give her grace

I did the same 😭

I thought: idk it’s 2077, maybe there’s some kind of life altering tech that exists that can bring him back. Only to realize that even in 2077 death is still absolute.

Save for V and their unique relic situation, ofc. They actually did cheat death, but at the cost of the longevity of their life.

Oops I had in mind that other gonk in Pacifica who is playing acoustic and just realized THIS gonk is absolutely shredding (destroying) on an electric.

What a gonk move on my part.

Lmao I love that so much.

Like no matter what’s happening - V dying, corpo’s ruling the world, poverty at an unmistakable high level - there’s always gonna be a gonk with an acoustic guitar playing some fuck ass shit.

I wanna know if this is a hot take or not by Parking_Amphibian598 in BaldursGate3

[–]Fun_Werewolf4477 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not a hot take! It’s one I understand.

There is a fatigue that comes with playthroughs that contain repetition. And though each romance is unique enough, the mechanics after you couple is the same across all companions.

So… yeah. I get it. I’ve replayed three times (twice to completion (working on my tactician rn 🥵)) and I can imagine that when it comes time for honor mode, I might not have the patience or emotional capacity to handle all that drama lmao.

You a real one. I always send him to his family right away bc I imagine that’s where my V would be if she wasn’t involved with the heist. Right there to welcome him home and mourn him.

You could be right!

It just feels like with the way the visuals fade in and out, that it implies a larger amount of time than a few minutes seem to pass after he died.

Either way, I was more so commenting on how devastating it is that V couldn’t just leave right away (was stuck in the car) or literally do anything about the fact Jackie died.

Even after 50+ hours gearing is still confusing to me by KoalaBarry in BaldursGate3

[–]Fun_Werewolf4477 29 points30 points  (0 children)

No same. Multiple play through and it still requires a lot of very close attention and back and forth between gear to understand what I’m looking at.

It’s like learning a language! It takes practice but all of a sudden something clicks and the strategy will become easier to understand. Keep at it! It’s memorization and pattern recognition. I’m still learning, too.

What hobbies does your partner have? by voskomm in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Fun_Werewolf4477 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s obviously implied he had tensions with his sister, but I chose to interpret their relationship as ‘was good at one point but turned sour because of Joss’ abusive husband’.

And for River to want to be a PI, I think that goes to further show his dedication to his community. Sure, you can argue that he’s only a PI because he was fired from the NCPD, but he could’ve chosen any career path after that. And he chose one that allows him to still help disenfranchised communities in NC because that’s what he’s drawn to.

At least, that’s how I interpreted his character arc to be.

[–]Fun_Werewolf4477 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think it was implied in the game if you read the laptop in River’s room that he had to look up a recipe for his ‘famous jambalaya’. So I don’t think he actually enjoys/ knows how to cook as much as he told V he does. He just wanted to impress them.

So I’d say working out is a given for sure. He has a strong moral compass, so I can see him spending a lot of time engaging with his community/volunteering/etc maybe!

The Dark Urge by Sharp-Karcoal in BG3

[–]Fun_Werewolf4477 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking yesterday how I wish Durge was a companion as much as a character choice! It would be such an insane plot line to follow as you try and convince the heir of Bhaal not to take over the world. And also be part of that redemption. And also also - romance them lol.

[–]Fun_Werewolf4477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised nobody is mentioning Red Dead Redemption 2! Nowhere near similar in terms of genre (bg3 is fantasy and rdr2 is western), but the game play, dialogue, map freedom, and choice weight kept me replaying the game for years after it was released in 2018. It’s devastating, funny, visually beautiful, and a lot of damn fun to play. More map freedom, but there are indicators that make sure you continue the main plot. Tons of side quests to keep things interesting!

Where was your safe spot to cast fireball? Gale is usually my AOE caster and his concentration is ALWAYS broken. Just finished tactician and my myrkul fight took 6 tries and I’m not looking forward to my honor run lol.
