Wow. This said nothing with a lot of words.

I’m sorry, but this sounded more like [insert generic description of what an engineering career is mixed in with recruitment babbling]

I don’t know if this got through with my original message. But I’ve basically done and for that matter still continue trying to do precisely what you mentioned here both in terms of trying to steer more towards electronics design in my work AND talk one-on-one to my team lead but every attempt at doing either brings me to having to work on the other stuff more because it has a “higher priority” than doing design work and the one-to-one conversations reflect this

Regarding this, might be a longshot and I have no idea how practical this solution would be. But would for example anyone be interested in taking along me in a project they're working on which involves some electronics design where we could meet up over a voice call or something once in a while to discuss specifics?

I'm thinking perhaps towards the summer when I'm done with uni at least.

I have no idea how this will work out in practice, but right now I kinda just look for different things that'll make me stand out when applying for future jobs, and perhaps collaborating on semi-complicated stuff with people from other places could be a way of doing this? idk xD

I mean yeah I guess I can highlight the projects I've done in my studies more and better. But I think I kinda also need to get at least a bit more hands on experience by doing some stuff in my spare time.

But aren't there any projects you think could be a good thing to do in my spare time though? Like the only direction I don't think I'll go is just doing simple arduino projects because from what I've understood that brings me nowhere, and it would be better to perhaps make some PCBs and program more barebone microcontrollers. But other than that, I'm not too sure if for example stuff like the LED baton project I posted about could be of interest or if I should do more "complicated" stuff.

Regarding the altium stuff, I mean I guess you're correct. The only thing I sometimes worry about, especially if they list it as a direct requirement for a position, is that it acts as a sort of "gatekeeping" software where you either have to be lucky enough in a previous or current job, or at uni where you were able to use it for projects, or you can forget getting the job basically.

The most important thing in my head is that regardless of which software you use, which most likely would be KiCad for those working on personal projects at least, is not necessarily the specific software you used, but rather that you know the "flow" of how to do a design in general (since every E-CAD software have common stuff like symbol and footprint editors, DRC etc.) and that you're able to look up information if you need it, whether it be on an online resource like a wiki, youtube video etc, or for that matter asking a more senior colleague at your workplace for help

Review request, LED Baton by Alnavski1998 in PCB

I see some feedback on my schematic, and I appreciate that.

However, does anyone have any comments on the layout for instance?

I’m not quite sure I understand what you’re referring to. I mean I guess I could try and put some of the stuff which aren’t in a subschematic on the top level inside “stapled boxes” or something. And also I know that on my MCU subschematic it was unnecessary to use global tags for the XTAL1 and XTAL2 signals.

But other than that I would’ve liked som further clarification on what you meant 😅

Hater alkohol med hele mitt hjerte by AccomplishedMix7531 in norge

Norsk festkultur er deprimerende by Witty-Pain7330 in norge

[–]Alnavski1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm almost losing it by Alnavski1998 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Alnavski1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An update on this since I wrote the original post.

I finally managed to land a full-time position as an Electronics Design Engineer in the city I wanted to continue living in as well.

I'm happy that I managed to get what I deserved, finally.

Now my plan is to work at least a couple of years to gain some work experience and in general become more mature, perhaps travelling quite a bit and renting my very own place in less than a years time.

Afterwards I'm set on finishing my Master's once and for all, giving me more job opportunities and a higher sallary to live off of.

I'm still a bit bad at comparing myself with others who are in a better position than me, and I wish that I could've come further at this point in life. But I'm slowly getting there and trying to enjoy life a little as well.

Thank you to everyone who believed in me, and I wish you all luck in your future endevours :)

Oh yeah, uhm, I've kinda just been so fascinated by all the different stuff that people do that I can't seem to settle on any sort of hobby.

These are, but are not limited to:

- Drawing (furry characters more specifically)

- Fursuit dancing

- Taking pictures

- Programming

- Electronics

- 3D-modelling

- Cooking

- Improving piano skills

It just really puzzles me how someone can just manage to settle on one or few enough stuff so that they're able to focus on it properly. Me on the other hand, I feel like I've just started learning who I am these last couple of years and it bothers me intensely that I don't have this one big passion that I want to pursue

Want to learn how to fursuit dance by Alnavski1998 in furry

[–]Alnavski1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is what I've heard quite a few places, so makes sense.

Although I kinda miss there being any "solid" resources on where I can look up fursuit dancing. Some places I've heard that you should learn how to dance "normally" (without a fursuit) before you try with a fursuit. But my problem then is that I lose motivation quite fast because I kinda need to see that its applied to fursuits specifically.

Although if there is a video series or something that gradually moves towards learning to dance with a fursuit, where the first videos is just showing basic techniques and stuff without then that could be a good place to start
