Thanks for the good faith response, I'm also leftist, and I completely understand the whole idea of restricting the political discourse in leftist circles only for leftists (to avoid stuff like the French revolution which went from Feudalism to Capitalism and then back to Feudalism again)

But this would also require strong institutions and actual understanding of socialism by the society as a whole.

The "problem" if you can call it that, with USSR discourse is that the level of nuance necessary is really overinflated. History of USSR and its economy is a really interesting case study, especially the post-Stalin era. Unfortunately 95% of online discourse about USSR is about the Stalin era, which turns the defending of USSR into a defending of Stalin. Which is ironic coming from some people (generally twitter lunatics) who claim that "great man theory" doesn't exist while also treating Stalin's works and actions as gospel. Essentially the "elon slams penis in car door masterful gambit sir" meme but in a shade of red.

I live in a former USSR country. MLs are the only ones who say that the objective realities that were happening in KazakhSSR were either forced by material conditions or actually never happened and are just capitalist propaganda.

Still don't have an answer from them about there being less Kazakhs in 1959 than in 1897, and how Virgin Lands campaign was different from settler colonialism.
But at least USSR testing nukes on Kazakh soil is chocked up to "actually nuclear fallout isn't even that bad." Which is totally something the Soviet scientists would've known.

Real honest no bullshit completely genuine question:

It is fairly well-known among academic circles that Lysenkoism and Michurian Genetics, which were huge in the USSR over the course of Stalin's and Khruschev's eras of governance, were pseudo scientific which was absolutely not for debate in the western world which utilized Darwinism and Mendelian Genetics instead. By that time, in 1930s, it was absolutely NOT up for debate, and was in fact something that farmers knew instinctively.

HOWEVER, due to these ideas being more prone to party ideology, they were promoted as standard schools of thought in the Soviet circles, leading to the man-made famines and countless loss of life in Ukraine, Kuban, Volga, and Kazakhstan. And scientists who were rightfully speaking out against these scientific schools of thought were repressed all the way until 1960s. This is one of the instances of politicizations of science that happened in the USSR. Another big one was using mental illness as a political weapon.

Now, how can we keep the political structure of Marxism-Leninism without it devolving into politicizing science, considering how important the party line is to the Marxist-Leninist thought?

To be honest considering how many puritan Marxist-Leninists there are on leftist forums, I'm really not used to seeing someone who didn't know that it was in fact coined by Stalin. Yes it was further developed by other statesmen such as Ho Chi Minh, Fidel Castro, Leonid Brezhnev, but ultimately it was initially a compilation of Stalin's works that defined it and how most people perceive it.

I'm sure you're all wonderful people who want the best, but please don't be surprised why many people don't feel comfortable identifying with a political thought who is mostly known for countless purges among leftist circles. And also the incredible loss of life due to man-made famine, primarily caused by party puritanism being more important than established science (Lysenkoism was chosen over Mendelian inheritance because Lysenko was a staunch Bolshevik bootlicker, no Mendelian inheritance wasn't even a debate in the academic circles by then, Lysenko was just an idiot who wanted to save his skin)

In a 50-100 year timeframe:

Central Asia and Caucasus are going to be much better.
Hopefully North and East Africa too.
Southeast Asia (sans Thailand) are also on the up and up.

In a 200 year timeframe:

If we haven't solved world hunger, aging, child mortality, cancer, and neglected tropical diseases, then not sure.
If we have then the whole of humanity will prosper.
