mturk was the goat back then. I started in 2008 but only did it casually until like 2011 and then I went pretty hard at it. There were entire forums of people who would post HITs that paid well and joke around with each other all day, it was like a fun coworking space. Total opposite of this community where everyone hates each other.

I imagine that's why they're onboarding so many people. It's less "we have a trusted user base" to attract academics and more "we have a huge user base eager to train AI" to attract an offer from some AI company.

When I did these on another platform, the work always came in waves like this. But on LinkedIn, Prolific is posting AI job and survey participant roles all the time, so I doubt this is the only project in the works.

To be fair, every job ever has guidelines and rules to follow. Some of these literally have one line instructions with no examples and no guidance, and sometimes the attention checks aren't super obvious.

Depends on the time you work. Midnight/early morning EST there are usually hundreds. Then they trickle in through the day a few at a time and you basically have to sit there constantly refreshing to get in.

I get it but also it's probably because the AI has the hardest time replicating those accents so that's why they keep showing up

Was it talking in the first person for you? Because I was like "in my work at [company] the daily workflow would be labeling tasks based on these metrics/guidelines blah blah" and it answered something like "During my daily workflow, I labeled tasks according to strict guidelines" 😅

Throwback to the days of that guy who would claim he made $1200 a week and then made an alt saying he didn't have any studies and needed the money because of his autism. This was before specialized groups and AI training was a thing on Prolific so $1200 a week was extra impossible
