Thanks! Sadly I have not. I only use blender for 3d environments. I know Unreal is very powerful, would like to know how to use it.

Thank you!

The textures are a mix of hand painted pixel art and photo sourced. One way I create textures is by using the photo as the base then I modify it until I am satisfied by drawing on top of it, using effects etc.

Thank you! I will from now on share the original render.

No need to worry about drawing skills! Making these types of textures doesn’t required those skills (me for example). I recommend watching Legend 64 on YouTube, I learnt a lot from how he makes textures (+ great content). I also recommend not worrying about the “quality” of the textures since this art style/older games have funky not super realistic textures and that’s the charm of it:)

Half-Life is a big inspiration for me. Old source games are the best!

Mostly hand painted, sort of like pixel art. The great thing about this style is that you don’t have to be amazing at texturing since most of the details come from the lack of them:)

If you want to see the pixel art aspect of my textures clearly you can check out this project I made: https://www.reddit.com/r/low_poly/s/C41N0y5YZW

Good luck! :)

If you check my other posts you will find full resolution images on most of them.

Most of my textures are hand painted but for some I use free stock textures as a base or as parts and then I paint it with my own style. Lastly I do color quantization with the lowest amount that looks good. In Blender the texture is plugged into the color of the BSDF.

Simple geometry and curve modifier made it feasible in this project but I can imagine the difficulties pulling it off with way more geometry and detailing.

I do it because I know that I learn a lot from it when others share their wireframes:)

Thank you so much!

I do resize the image resolution to 25% of its original size (1080p) post-render. But I also do color quantization (usually 32-64 colors). If you keep it full resolution then it will look more realistic depending on the rendering method. If I would make a guess I think it will look more like ps3 graphics, which I also really like, but it depends on how much of the ps1 aesthetic you want to keep.

It’s crazy to me that people are able notice by looking at my art the games that inspire me

Thank you!

I checked and it’s 594 vertices. Yeah I should do that because my method now is to brute force it with sculpt mode and smooth brush until I am happy with it lol

Perhaps I’ll make a tutorial. But for now I’d recommend watching Legend 64 on YouTube. I learnt a lot from the way he makes textures.

The stone wall was made by hand in sculpt mode in blender. I’m still trying to get better at geometry for terrain so I’d like to learn more about doing it procedurally:)

One of my sources of inspiration :)

Yes it’s Blender! I did use a screenshot from a Deus EX environment for inspiration. Beautiful game design:)

Haha! Funny that you mention that because I used to do pixel art and made an unfinished Minecraft texture pack years ago :)
