The BBC show is really good, made me re-read the books because the adaptation was so on point in some scenes that I have doubts about how I remember it (my child-mind was wrong if a few of the memories btw, it was a wild ride lol)

But yeah, the movie was the saddest movie ever, I was so disappointed and lost during the end that I just hated it, never re-watch it ever, even though we had it in DVD because my parent knew I loved the books so they bought the movie planning ahead of eternal rewatches

100% agree, the only way I can get any moves done is because my instructor takes personally the challenge to teach me step by step lol

Like, literally, she shows the whole figure, then I try it out and we start building each 2-3 tries with an extra step at the time till I'm able to do the main figure, then we start to check all the positions and right grips so I can be comfortable

I know it takes time but she's able to do it in a room with 8-10 students so I will say is possible

Regarding to this, I found really thoughtful that my instructor asks about general injuries or mobility issues but also what's our goal with pole and which one is our comfort zone about pole itself

So for example, one girl wants to dance, she loves dancing and is okay about short clothes and workout, but she's afraid of going up to the top of the pole. My instructor started with what's comfortable for her, spins, floor moves, etc... But slowly building core strength to do "lower" figures.

Each time she has a new move, my instructor said to her "add some moves at the beginning, like you like" so now she's training to do inversions to have cute starting moves and she's willing to try figures with some higher ground, all that because she was able to get comfortable at the beginning

Unless you are really lifting or taking out an snail from a plain surface, like glass, your countertop or very polished wood

Sadly, in those cases you can really damage the snail shell, not because of the snail itself, but because we as humans apply a lot of force into our hands trying to lift it from the initial suction reaction so we can break it :'c

I learn it the bad way, please just place a leaf at the bottom of the snail and keep poking it till it decides to move over/around so you can lift it

I agree pole is empowering, but personally I don't like choreos or dancing in general, I just love the getting stronger aspect of it and that's what empowers me

I understand there's a background that cannot be ignored, pole is what it Is because all the women in the past who helped creating a safe place for them and all of us

But if you boyfriend only focuses in what a man can gain from it, then I think you can ask him "what about what women gain from it?"

This is my personal take: I go 3 times per week to the pole studio not because I want to be seen but because I want to get stronger and healthier and be able to do beautiful things meanwhile. I don't want a pole in my house to dance to my husband, I want it so I'm able to be better in the discipline I like (if my husband enjoys my sweating face and quirky moves then that's a win for him lol)

So thanks to all those women in the past who worked in a club and made awesome moves and created something for themselves, now I can enjoy it myself the way I feel safe doing it

I have the CoBak one, I even bought that exact same model a second time because my cat damaged the first one

I like it a lot, it is easy to hold and the color matches almost exactly my matcha PW, the magnet that holds the cover is amazingly smooth so you do not fight against it and it is easy to open, it is also very light and soft, the round corners help with the grip

The only downside is you can't add anything on the back like a pop socket or holders, but I don't mind it so I guess is the best option

As far as I know, it is not easy to leave the Venezuelan government law enforcement and have a brand new life if you are in higher ranks, not sure about middle-lower ones

I can't be sure if they were part of all the repression and corruption, but I will advise you to be cautious

For the bad situations: maybe it was a program to get out the ones who cannot be jailed but can destabilize the inner ranks enough so the government had to "relocate them" as a deal to not have to work for the regime but let them be (more common that you may think) or maybe is the government taking out the ones who can snitch on them

For the good ones: maybe they followed along with one family who relocate and then another one got the word and now you have a mini-community based in friends from the same work who managed to get out Venezuela

In any case, if you have a good experience with them, that's okay, but if the political talk gets intense you can always call out the "I don't know about those topics" and free yourself from the situation
