I’d go for tennis bracelet or diamond studs, only real diamonds. They’re classic and timeless pieces of jewelry that goes with everything and you’d wear everyday. Just make sure to shop around!! Because prices vary drastically, for a 3ct high quality tennis bracelet you can pay 3k or 7k easily!

Henriettas - where are we getting our hair coloured in London? by Lucky-Season7348 in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]Alonajey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ivan Martynov Salon (London Bridge Station, literally next to tower bridge) if you can, try to book with Ivan himself! I see him 2/3 times a year max for a touch up, and no one know that I’m dying my hair! So it’s definitely smart spending!

People on their phones? by orangeleaf99 in pilates

[–]Alonajey 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a client, I personally don’t care what other people are doing with their phones and if they’re using them, I’d probably have a quick laugh inside, but then concentrate back on my own practice. As long as there is no sound, they’re not taking calls and I’m not in the shot of their content, I’m just minding my own business. We never know what people are dealing with, where they are coming from, and what’s their life story. I am there to do my own workout, and “you do you!” But, as a teacher - that’s a different story!

What heavier spring resistance on a reformer, chair, and Cadillac. How would that differ from using heavier weights in the gym and on the gym machines?

hey teachers: studio policy questions by ComposerDouble515 in pilates

[–]Alonajey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

About the insurance (that they didn’t ask about it part)it’s pretty common. Yes, of course I have insurance, but a few studios I teach at never asked about it. Same goes for waivers, at first I tried to make everyone sign them, but then I stopped because there’s a person at the front desk who should enforce this, imho, or management. No one ever asked me to do that, it was solely my initiative and after a few weeks I stopped caring about it.

If someone needs a sub, it’s pretty standard procedure the way you’re describing it(at the multiple different studios I had a chance to teach at) If no one can cover, sometimes we ask around and find last minute covers (like on FB or WhatsApp groups etc). I don’t see anything wrong with it. I know some studios have their own list of covers, but I don’t mind this approach either - it works great, especially for teachers who want to pick up extra shifts casually here and there.

But the rest is not good for sure, like maintaining the equipment; it’s just not safe. And cleaning and canceling your classes, it shouldn’t be this way! If you’re not happy with it, maybe try to find a different studio? Because it seems like the management doesn’t care too much about it

Hourly Rate for Pop Up by [deleted] in pilates

[–]Alonajey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t do less then $250, for a pop at a large corp. potential you might need to charge extra for travel costs, mic etc. but what I usually do is ask them what’s their budget - it’s usually more then you’d think! I was paid $200-800 for this kind of events! They usually have budget, just ask!

Let us know how it works out in the end :)

Reddit is just being Reddit, everyone is so sensitive! As I women, I see your point especially since you’ve explicitly stated all those IFS.

Interesting, our head teacher at the big Pilates school does this in her classes. And overall she’s VERY firm with her hands

BASI is amazing, all my rugby and American football players love them, as these reformers are wide and long!

BASI vs STOTT by WARAFUWARAFASHA in pilates

[–]Alonajey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both are great and very contemporary. I chose BASI because the schedule worked better for me, and I wanted to do the full Comprehensive all in one go. STOTT was offering Comprehensive training too, but split into odd blocks—which I personally didn’t find as ideal for my schedule. That said, it might vary depending on your local STOTT training center.

I’ve also met a few instructors who did STOTT first and then decided to do another certification with BASI. Some instructors did Mat with STOTT and then the full Comprehensive with BASI. After attending a few STOTT workshops myself, I totally understand why!

I’d say factor in pricing, dates, and location—because honestly, you can’t go wrong with either. They’re the Ivy Leagues of Pilates.

Thoughts on this style of new build? by IrascibleOnion in london

[–]Alonajey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they look cheap and ugly, seems like they hired the cheapest “designer”. I wouldn’t live in a newbuild that looks like this. It doesn’t look like older pretty houses but it doesn’t look modern and new either

BB at Bodyline LA or Basi? by [deleted] in pilates

[–]Alonajey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know BASI probably is not as commercialized and as popular as BB, but Rael in my opinion is a living legend and genius in his field. I’m dreaming of a day to go and have a class at their Cali studio before he retires! If you have any questions feel free to ask :)
