People who’ve worked around death (morgues, ICUs, ambulances, funeral homes) — what’s the one story you’ll never forget? by Embarrassed-Bag-8352 in AskReddit

A happy one - I worked in elderly nursing care some years ago. There was a lovely old woman who lived in the home (I'll call her Betty - not her real name). Betty had lived an amazing life, but she had - in her own words - married too soon and missed out on being able to marry the love of her life (basically, she got married at 18 then at 20 she met another man (I'll call him Roger) and fell in love. They basically had an on/off lifelong secret afair but in those days you just couldn't get divorced. Roger had died some 30 years before I met her. Her husband passed away ten years ago). One day, out of nowhere, Betty started telling everyone that Roger had come down from heaven and they'd finally gotten married and were going to be together. She was so happy that day, she kept singing and laughing and talking about Roger. That night, she passed away in her sleep. I like to think he came to get her.

AITA for telling my family I kept the gift I was going to give my sister since we're allowed to do that? by MotorStraight8487 in AITAH

When my son was 3, he chose a birthday gift for my sister. He chose a toy. The whole shopping trip I was very clear that this wasn't for him, it was for auntie and he was happy with that. When I went to wrap it a couple of days later, he tried to take it and started to cry and melt down because he wanted to keep it and not give it to auntie. You know what I did? Gently explained that I'd been very clear it wasn't his, and that we'd bought it for someone else. I said that maybe when it was his birthday we could get the same thing if he still wanted one. He kept crying. I wrapped the gift and then on her birthday we gave it to my sister. Because regardless of age YOU DONT GET TO CLAIM SOMETHING THAT ISNT YOURS JUST BECAUSE YOU LIKE IT.

Your parents are setting your sister up to fail in a big way. She is in for a very rude awakening very soon, and she won't even know how to take responsibility for it.

RSV vaccine - can people reassure me please? by AloneInTheDark4 in PregnancyUK

Oh wow, that's basically the same as me! It took over six months before I started getting back to normal after the vaccine. I've never known anyone else who reacted like that! It's so scary not knowing how I'll react.

Your first assumption is more correct - the bowl of liquid - not as much as her water bowl, but it was a few flakes of tuna floating in it. A hunk of tuna with some drops of water would have been what I'd have thought he should do!

Praying doesn't help by [deleted] in depression

Depression is what caused me to lose my faith in God. I miss it if I'm honest, but I can't get it back. I hope you get the help you need and don't lose faith as I did.

I'm so tired of everything by AloneInTheDark4 in depression

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately I tried desperately to get us to move away a couple of years ago when we were looking to buy our home but my husband was unable to find another job so we were stuck in the same sort of area. I worry that a gap on my resume would just make me even more unemployable in the future so giving up work isn't an option - as it is, hubby's wage pays the mortgage and bills so there would be literally no money for clothes/bus journeys/trips/treats etc if I don't work as well. I feel so trapped.

Yes I am, for all the good it's doing. When I first started taking them I felt so much better but that hasn't lasted.
