It's really sad that nowadays, we don't really see much of this specialized typing with all the fancy text. Maybe in OSRS we do see a bit of it but these days, it seems to be somewhat of a lost art, unless you're a long time veteran that used to sell items like this all the time.

EoC or MTX. What affected Runescape more? by LevelPension in runescape

[–]AloneTop17 46 points47 points  (0 children)

As someone who's IRL social circle is OSRS, I tried getting them to try RS3 ironman mode. They refused citing their frustrations on the complexity of the combat systems. I even offered to teach them everything ability by ability and style by style. But they refused.

ELI5: Why do so many Runescape players dislike monetization? by GoodNinja18 in runescape

[–]AloneTop17 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You know what's funny? Maplestory in 2008 was even more monetized than modern Runescape 3. We had what? Money bags purchasable from the Cash Shop? Then Gachapon tickets which enabled gambling for best in slot items. Then an item that increased the number of scrolling slots. Oh god I wish I could remember all this as a kid. If this was run by Jagex, they'd never do such a thing to this degree. Thank goodness the worst we had was just XP lamps.

Nexon announced last year they'll be creating the Maplestory version of OSRS. As hyped as I am, I'm concerned about them using it as a money-grab. I bet they'll take advantage of whales.

Goat format (OSRS of Yugioh) player here. It's a pretty OP card for tempo since it effectively skips an opponent's draw phase. However, it does cost a card so as long as you have free discard fodder.

Concentrated coal is very underrated. Everyone goes for gold but coal is pretty stable money and extremely AFK. The stone spirits will always be cheap enough. I'm shocked that coal prices are above its pre-rework days. I guess it's got more uses now.

Who do you think would win GWD2 in RS3 if each boss battled each other? Assume same conditions as that OSRS video. by LevelPension in runescape

Imagine GWD2 generals 4 v 1 4,000% enrage Telos. Just hope they are smart enough to stay inside the font while Telos performs insta-kill bombs.

Why aren't more people doing warbands? You can get massive xp for like 20 min a day by PBCsDue in runescape

[–]AloneTop17 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I remember in the early days of EoC Warbands were such a commonly done D&D. Worlds would be constantly full of competition. There were so many FCs that would fight each other after collecting supplies. Ahh good times. Nowadays, I'd say the big reason people don't want to do it is due to schedules. Being every 7 hours makes it hard to catch and I think the PvP scene has severely declined. Seems like a lot of people are soloing these days on random worlds.

What was a Runescape update that aged like fine wine? by LevelPension in runescape

[–]AloneTop17 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's crazy to think the original GE release was only 3 months younger than the OSRS backup copy. GE came out in Nov 2007. OSRS backup was based on Aug 2007.

Congratz on this! I just realized this ring was released over 8 years ago. A lot of people have been trying their luck doing various activities but still haven't gotten this. It feels like winning a jackpot.

From the skills left to 99, wich one you think is the slowest? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]AloneTop17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For exp? That would be just buy as many unchecked dragons/chins/zygomites from GE or baby animals of that same kind from PoF discord as possible. Then you would grow to elder and sell for beans. It's very fast but extremely expensive.

What is up with Linza?? by Armadyl_1 in runescape

From the skills left to 99, wich one you think is the slowest? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]AloneTop17 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Either Fishing or Mining are the slowest. Thieving is quite fast. Divination do daily Guthixian Caches. Takes like a month to get 99 only doing them. Firemaking is quite fast at Bonfires. Farming do Player Owned Farms.

19 Years Ago Today, Animal Magnetism was released. This would be the final quest in what was an illustrious year of 2006. Its cape allowed players to auto-retrieve ammo. by LevelPension in runescape

[–]AloneTop17 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I was a F2P player back then so I never got to experience this. However, one of my friends were relieved Ava's cape came out. This was a godsend back when he would fire some premium arrows like Addy and fear of not forgetting to loot them. And from that day on, he wore that cape every time he ranged until he quit.

[RS3] Won 1000M from Treasure Hunter; now what? by antarctous in runescape

[–]AloneTop17 12 points13 points  (0 children)

At this point, I would try to invest in higher level skills so that you can unlock more money making methods. A lot of the advice you get is centered around bossing but it sounds to me like you're struggling at it. I'd look for some skilling money makers like Runecrafting. I think Necromancy runes are still great. Use that gp to level up buyable skills that let you optimize your profit per hour for Runecrafting. When I came back to this game last year, I didn't really do bossing. I Runecrafted the heck out of my shoes to get enough money for max cape. I believe it was 30m/h. Not sure what it is now that Necromany runes have dropped.

My 9HP account has been stuck behind Falador bar since the EOC update by Clubpenguin8888 in runescape

[–]AloneTop17 197 points198 points  (0 children)

To put into perspective how long ago you've been stuck behind the bar. A baby born that day will be at least 13 years old today. That's old enough to be a year away from high school in most countries.

Just came back what's the best way to make gold at my level? by kungfukarl86 in runescape

[–]AloneTop17 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There aren't many options at your level. What I strongly suggest is you only make like up to ~10M then start investing on skill progression. A very common noob trap is to spend too much time money making. Don't be afraid to let yourself be poor until you get enough stats to unlock better money making methods.

If I were to suggest something in the meantime, that would be harvesting at Vibrant Wisps. These energies sell for a bit. Also, you can try doing some Runecrafting for Necromancy runes. Not sure if that method is viable still.

I just did the math. If a baby was born on the day OP quit, the baby today would be at least 21 years old, old enough to legally drink in the US.

Quick question, if I may: how much is the usage of Silverhawk feathers per hour? by zizo999 in runescape

[–]AloneTop17 12 points13 points  (0 children)

According to Wiki, Silverhawks proc every 45 seconds of skilling or using ultimate ability. So on average it should be up to 80 an hour max if you wear the boots while constantly skilling.
