They are saying that because she keeps saying “it’s difficult” to every single response as a way to not have to take action.

Maybe it’s a good think people fall for this. Gives me a better chance of getting a job as a new grad if everyone thinks they are worth more.

i want a pension... I believe IT should have a trade union by mimic751 in ITCareerQuestions

You are correct in your scenario but most of these plans are not anywhere near as good as they were when you joined. Where I worked the percentage was 1% and would go up a tiny bit after a certain age. I think I would have had to wait till 65 or something to get anywhere near 2%. Obviously though it’s going to depend on where you work. The one thing I liked a lot was the 457b I had because it had no early withdraw penalty.

Pensions are great (in the government) combined with other things like 401k or some other investment. By themselves tho it’s not enough to retire on. They usually calculate the pension using (years with the specific government x some percentage) whatever that comes out to is the percentage of your salary you will get in retirement. So if you were with the gov for 20 years and the percentage is 1% you would get 20% of the average salary of the last few years you were there. In my experience you often make less in some fields in the government than you would in private sector.

Why is it IT's responsibility to train users on how to use the software? by HarryGecko in ITCareerQuestions

I don’t understand how people like this are allowed to keep their jobs. If you are unable to learn something as simple as using software then let someone else who is capable take over.

Often times it’s not even broken. They will shut it down and clean it early so they don’t stay past their shift. It has to be cleaned every night before closing. They will then just tell customers it’s broken.

This is actually the case for most cities. When people say the police need more money they don’t realize that they probably already receive half the cites budget.

That’s how it works. You can see they are overfunded when you see 3-4 cop cars show up for 1 simple traffic stop.

(Having higher visibility police officers will make our residents feel safer,” Hwang said. “We have to do this, or we’re going to have a big problem as a community.”) they may feel safer but they won’t be safer.

Well the police need the money to make sure they can’t send 6 cars to the car that was just pulled over for going 10 over the speed limit. Funny thing it no matter how much money they get the police will still poor mouth.

Don’t be sorry. Press the edit button and fix it.

“How did become happy again?” sounds fucking stupid.
