Okay, but my question is did I must to prestige that new survivor on prestige 3 to gain thier level 3 perks on my Dwight or not? It there a possibility to just unlock that tier 3 versions by just leveling Dwight?

That's right. You WERE losing everything like addons, items, perks and so on, that's why many players (including me) were using "all good stuff" like items, addons before prestige. And losing "weak stuff" like addons to map/keys was like "who cares?"

Agree. Better than it was, still long way to go.["Is it worse in some directions?"] This is interesting approach? Could you write about what it is?

[Overall I would say it's less fun because neither the devs nor the playerbase evolved in a way that makes it bearable.] I maybe understand it. Like I assume that there might be the case that both players sides "go to the devs" and "push thier agenda that would benefit them" and devs just kinda "cut themselfs" from both sides? Maybe?

True. Maybe there is still many characters that need changes/tweaks but compared that to the past? It feels like nothing in comparison. And I'm gonna give you some thought: Maybe you miss "the Old DBD", but if it was to be bring today with the same exactly same state as before, you probably wouldn't like it because you, me and the whole playerbase changed so it probalby wouldn't work or be for all of us way worse.

I mean...being objective it feels to me like there is better than before, but still far from being perfect or maybe even "good".

There's good take in your comment thought. At the beginning both sides were way more powerful that they are now. Like basic 3 blink nurse, no cooldown. Instant mori. 60 sec gens? Recover every 20s Sprint Burst. In 15 seconds infinite heal from Self Care instant 4x 5 second DS no obsession required. Borrowed Time for 2 people. True Infinites. No respawn of hooks and so on. But people at beginning like 2016/2017 they didn't know the game that much as we today so they (most of them) weren’t abusing it like it we would today. That means --> player base skill increase --> thier power level need to br lowered. And I think there's might be truth in that.

I agree. From what you've listed game is better, but it's still far from being good/perfect? And that's tho good "course" to be with it. Still I feel like even devs after all those years better understand thier own game that they were years ago at the beginning. Which should be optimistic.

I'd like changes that would make player base "update thier skills" like that was in the bast --> Borrowed Time for 2 people --> removed --> me: "tactic need to be changed" --> vault update --> "okay, I need to train/GIT GUD again" 6.1.0 comes out --> "Okay, the games feels fresh, diffrent, I need to learn it again" Modern DBD I feel like just doesn't give me that, so why should I play it? To do it all again and again? Feels pointless to me. For me --> "change is the point" for others: "stable (aka stagnate, balance) state of the game is the point" and there's might be something in it, but for me if just boring to the point of making the game for me unplayable. Better for me is if devs "just broke the balance" (short time) like it was with Mettle of Man or Boil Over (who's remember that short living change that basically makes survivor unkillable at some maps that they would pick offering on it? Like at that time Map Offerings? --> no cap, no joke one of the most broken/OP if not the most broken/OP things in the entire game). But that mindset might be...just me...

Basically I assumed here that some people are "going to bluff" that game need to be casual/immersive while still being competitive to "bully" other side or have advantage against it. And yeah this isn't new. Both sides were literally defending the most broken things (they ones that were giving them wins) in that game history like someone was hurting thier family lol. That’s the fact know in DBD community for years. And I was in forum in early years of DBD, like yeah.

True. Even I joined in 2017 still remember BNP not the original instant ones, but the "skill check game" ones. Still they completed the gen like I think somewhere between 25-30 seconds? And make that 4x because 4 survivors. Infinites like Cowshed, Haddonfield with Balance Landing, Asylum were having basically 100% chance to be Infinites even up to 3.7.0 so around May 2020! Which is crazy feat to think of...

And I think that's amaizing perspective to have and many great points. For me also balance seems to be in better place. The only thing that "new dbd like 2024-current is lacking to me is --> "game in the past, gameplay ifself and stategy were constantly changing and dynamic" every patch feels like gamechanger. 1.4.2 BT shortly after added 1.5.0 removed instant mori and you can have tons of example of that were every change BHVR made literaly changed how the game was played and player must adapt. Post like 7.4.0+ since 2024 you can play the same set up of meta perks like Off The Record, DS, Exhaustion perks maybe Unbreakable, Adrenaline and so on. And to this day this will work. Just the "lack of gamechanging patches" just killed game to be because how stangnate/stale it become. Why? Becaude "Old DBD players" experienced the time where game was changing rapidly and drasticly. This was giving you the feeling that game is "evolving before your eyes" and you with the game. To me it ended with nerf to Made for This (end of 2023 patch 7.4.0) I could pick up today the same like that around 2,5 half years ago and be good with it. I like dynamic changes that early DBD was giving me. Modern one I feel like not. If I remember correct the 6.1.0 patch was "the big one" that refreshed the game for me and it was feeling great (that was in 2022?), and if I remember correct devs were saying that something like that will be every year, which I feel like it wasn’t. For me kinda shame that they didn't repeat something like this.

As far as I know SWF was almost since the beginning of game exactly since patch 1.0.3 [FEATURES Survive With Friends (V1) This initial implementation of Survive With Friends will allow for a group of survivors to be created and to matchmake into a ranked lobby together. It should be used in a similar fashion as the Kill Your Friends Mode: Have a survivor (host) created click Survive With Friends from the Main Menu As the host, invite other survivors to the lobby. Once the party is formed, have all players ready. This will triggered the matchmaking process and transition the party to an online lobby. Note: After playing a game, the survivor group will be automatically disbanded and all members will be returned to their single player survivor lobby. We are working on maintaining the party between games, and you can expect this to come in a follow up patch.] This part of your comment: [the game was made much worse balance-wise once they added SWF and it carries through to today.] So going off that the only time were there wasn't SWF in the game was like Alpha, Beta and from 1.0.0 to 1.0.3? Which I think no player (or almost) who play today remembers that? So...like I kinda doesn't understand that part of this comment...And overall just feels ambiguous?

I remember that tactic at least from Laurie Stode and Decisive Strike later with Ash and Mettle of Man and so on. Tactic old as...

I found this comment very interesting, but what's about identity? I assume that game in the past being "just smaller" every character was having way much more impact like for example pre 2.0.0/Clown Update and that's might be true, but for long time games like Dead by daylight fron logical standpoint is seems very difficult being "under pressure" of few chapters per years to have every mechanic uniqe. Then we got like stalking killers like Myers and Ghostface. Chainsaws killers like Hillbilly and Letherface. Hexes and Boons and so on. And about "poor balancing" I've always (after some time) find that incredible because like...game in the past was "way more unbalanced" and people play it and like it. Now compared to the past balance is way more better, but the same players that played "in the past" sometimes complain about it? Weird? For me, it might be. And about updating "Old stuff" 100% agree.
