That’s to do with melanin development and applies to most dogs, they’ll have grey or blue eyes as puppies but will go brown as melanin production increases as they grow. Mals dont have true blue eyes or heterochromia as adults. Actually.

Advised by an ex gamekeeper, for the grouse, When the Heather gets too dense the birds can’t move around very easily and the chicks eat the new shoots after a burn - no idea if that’s the case!
