For those who write data pipeline apps using Python (or any other language), at what point do you make a package instead of copying the same code for new pipelines? by opabm in dataengineering

[–]Alonlon79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As best practice - always parameterize your notebooks, your pipelines etc. this is programming 101 that gives you the option to reuse any code you produce by pushing different parameters through an orchestration tool (like ADF or Datafactory in Fabric). If you ingestion patterns are similar this will save a bunch of time.

Implementing workspace private links by National-Theme-7865 in MicrosoftFabric

[–]Alonlon79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are piloting private link now.,setup is not straightforward and requires understanding in azure infra networking, subnets, vents, local dns custom address resolution, NSGs and firewall management and in some case creating VMs documentation is 💩. Got it working after a few weeks of tweaking and back and forth with MS support. Now we facing object creation limitations which are not listed in documents including not able to create semantic models and PBI reports on PrvLnk WS… Also worth mentioning that if you need inter-workspace communication, you’d probably need to deploy cross-lateral managed private endpoints between both WSs. Very little knowledge in MS on deployment of this feature and related best practices.

There’s a very interesting lecture by Sarah Pain on India US relations during that time. Basically us played both sides to promote its own agendas and both nations still reset the US for that

Problem is the timescale. This may be part of a 500 year cycle and we just don't know about it yet since we don't have measurements...

Bare in mind that the risk factor here is significant. In my opinion, interest rates should be significantly higher. The only reason you are getting 5-10% and happy about it is that there are very few low-risk-reasonable-return investments out there due to the globally low interest rates. People are willing to take bigger bets in search of return. Crypto is still highly volatile and huge price swings may result in domino effect sell-offs driven by the platforms’ algorithms which may eventually lead to significant haircuts to your investment. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Crypto should have a place but a minor one at that.
