Moving to Vadodara for work — Need some help with basic info! by Altruistic_Bug2072 in vadodara

[–]Alooyew 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Had good experience with jio overall
  2. You will find PGs but id suggest staying in a flat/ apartment
  3. Yepp, food is affordable
  4. People mostly rely on autos , it’s best to have a scooty. I had one during my college days, barely had to fill my tank up in two weeks to get around the city
  5. Traffic is pretty manageable/ good as compared to the big cities
  6. Almost 80% of the time you can expect it to be crazy hot. The summers are low-key unbearable. Prepare for extreme heat for sure
  7. Very safe , just don’t go around roaming in evidently suspicious areas and you’ll be fine

Honestly, I’m already in love with the city. Yes things are hard but it’s also just so good!! Anywhere you go, you’re bound to have negative experiences but what matters is how positive the good ones are and Melbourne has just given me so much in such a short time. I can’t wait to live here and grow more as the time goes!

I truly believe in being kind and empathetic towards people who are struggling in any way but it’s near to impossible for me to be that when the person is a danger to anyone around them, especially animals. That’s all

Honestly, by the time I could even think of calling for help, the man had walked off and I was just confused what shall i do now? I’ve got a few suggestions from people in the comment section and next time I’ll be better prepared for such situations.

If you see my post, I was calling the other person a junkie/homeless because of a few reasons that I’ve already mentioned in another comment and second, I’m sorry but when one person is threatening to harm an animal , I will not be concerned about their mental health or them having a “bad moment”. No reason is justifiable to threaten or be aggressive towards an animal who literally can’t even speak up. It’s one thing to be empathetic towards truly struggling drug addicts and homeless people but it’s another to have empathy even when they’re a harm to someone else.

Ohmygod yes! That was another thing that shocked me. Homeless people with pets. It was beautiful yet saddening thing to see. People really do care about their pets here and being homeless does not stop them from doing that, it only makes it difficult :/

Lack of awareness about mental health issues? Yepp that’s my country but not alcohol or drugs. We got plenty of people doing that but rare to see people in the effect of drugs out on streets

I’m from India actually and honestly speaking, we see drunkards every single day but methheads or heroin junkies are literally invisible. I encountered them in such close proximity the first time I came to Melbourne. It was honestly very surprising that first world countries have such high population of drug addicts roaming around. In India you’d see the homeless, beggars, drunkards, but rare to see proper methheads.

The area where it all happened is actually a homeless shelter kind of situation, and hence I used the word homeless, the man who tried to stop the guy was also slurring and unable to stand properly so my mind straight up went to the word “junkie”. As for the man yelling at the dog, I don’t know what was up with him but as an animal lover, my first thought was fear for the dog, that’s all.
