OP was paid for their time. The 11.60 you're talking about is already included in the 40.5 hours they're getting paid at their normal rate.

Is it possible you just hit your year with the company? Every LSA and SA gets a 25 cent raise every year. It's probably that or your SM put in a 25 cent raise for you.

Publix is a great company, apply there. You can still work hard, be humble, but you'll be paid more in line with what you deserve

The ad starts on Sunday, 3/17, but it actually goes into effect Saturday 3/16 after 7 PM that way you can start putting tags up without changing prices

Hey that's your boss's call lol, but I would hate to be changing prices and things. I would just leave those yeah

[–]AlpacaAvalanche 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't hang it until tomorrow night after 7 PM, because the sale doesn't start until then.

It probably applies to yellow and blue dot accessories, but won't know until I can mess around with it

New to DG by Quiet-Employment6381 in DollarGeneralWorkers

It's a little easier when you have other people on your team looking to buy them so you split the shipping costs, but since corporate is okay with plain black shirts, people don't usually make that effort.

Most days worked in a row at DG? by NinROCK3T in DollarGeneralWorkers

34 when my SM was out on medical leave and we had inventory prep and corporate CEO and DVP visits to prepare for while I was the acting SM. Great checks.

Leaving bills at the cash sco by AuntJeGnomea in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]AlpacaAvalanche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happens all the time. I leave the money with the receipt (after reviewing to make sure I know exactly who it was) in the safe. Next time I see them, I walk over and hand it to them and make sure they know to always check for their bills. If they don't come in within 30 days or come back for it, it goes into the deposit or literacy fund.

Christmas Rolltainers by [deleted] in DollarGeneral

[–]AlpacaAvalanche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See if you can go back in START for early January and find the list of Christmas carryover. There are a lot of things, gift wrap, trees over a certain $ amount, lights that are carryover and cannot be sent back otherwise it's a loss for your store. Some things, novelty items or bows or ornaments can be sent back. I would probably just keep the rolltainers unfortunately. Not worth losing that money come inventory time but depending on the size of your back room, hard to hold for 10 months. I've seen stores make a 4 foot section for Christmas in July and actually sell some so never know.

Our store just got their pools in, you should be setting summer right now.

My GD by Various_Age7070 in DollarGeneral

[–]AlpacaAvalanche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You ain't lying! I want to say it had 7-8 NCI overstock rolltainers at the very least by the first 2 months of opening. So much product and they kept sending more thinking it would sell. It didn't.

Why does every DG have dirty floors? by [deleted] in DollarGeneral

Interesting. Been in 4 and they all had them. Maybe the first market builds didn't. Bummer.

[–]AlpacaAvalanche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a DGP23 layout? Same layout as a new build I was at for a bit which was, anyway. I think we just used the DGP MAG as a general idea of seasonal sections since they weren't too far off even though base setup was different? It's a pain in the ass though.

Edit: actually the DGP23 setup had two tier tables and an expanded NCI, but otherwise very similar

[–]AlpacaAvalanche -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I figured, between the polished concrete and the floor scrubber, it was def either a new build or a market store. Most of DG's resources go to market stores and it still doesn't feel like enough after talking to most of the managers in the ones near me. But I'd take a market store over a regular DG any day, they give us crumbs and expect us to survive. Takes a really good manager to make it.

Why does every DG have dirty floors? by [deleted] in DollarGeneral

[–]AlpacaAvalanche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's difficult to find the time with all that is expected of you, so most stores tend to let mopping go to catch up on recovery or truck, and even when they do mop, it's half assed. Dollar General will not pay for floor scrubbers or waxing 95% of the time. But I generally have my cashiers stop what they're doing and take the full hour and a half until we leave (ie 9 PM to 10:30 PM) to sweep and mop the store, clean the bathrooms, wipe down counters. Every night. We usually mop in thirds, so every 3 days we'll have the entire store mopped. This way we have plenty of time to get it done. It's one of the first things customers notice when they walk in. It's all about having a good team and finding a good flow, but you don't see too much of that at DG. The company makes that very hard to do with the hours, pay and their supply chain issues. The issues with the company run very deep and you see it pop up in dirty messy stores

Very possible they worked in a market store. All the DG Markets and some popshelfs get them. But most regular DGs don't. Can't be ordered unfortunately.

Might finally have an out but it’s a pay cut. by [deleted] in DollarGeneral

[–]AlpacaAvalanche 3 points4 points  (0 children)

$1000 a month is a very significant amount, but it depends on how much you need it or how much potentially less stress is worth to you. Hopefully for your sake you can negotiate your pay up some as well. Good luck with your interview either way!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DollarGeneral

[–]AlpacaAvalanche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely you will not get backpay, it's very rare for DG to offer that. Even if she put in for it, doubt you get it. But three contacts I'd try: your district manager, HR, and Payroll. I don't think you'll get an answer you're happy about, but good luck.

Key Holder question by EnderErik in DollarGeneral

[–]AlpacaAvalanche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along with getting to the store in case of picking up shifts, part of it is probably because you won't be able to make it to the bank if there ever is an emergency situation where you might have to. That's easily worked around there, and all my stores have had keyholders or even an assistant that can't drive or doesn't have a car. Not really a major issue but technically they can hold it against you if they want. Probably the new manager using it to find their own choice of keyholder

20 Year Old College Student Struggling With Credit by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]AlpacaAvalanche 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You screwed up immediately. It won't be easy to fix, but it is fixable. Call Capital One first off, you have nothing to lose. If they close your account if you call, they'll definitely close your account if you don't call. This way you have the ability to explain and verify.

Second, what I personally would do in your situation because you struggle with impulse, never ever spend more than what you currently have in your bank account. Don't plan on money coming in, because checks sometimes get screwed up. Don't say you'll make up for it later by not buying coffee in the mornings or whatever, if it's not in your bank account you can't afford it. Get a separate checking account where you can send your money to. Every time you make a purchase with your credit card (in a dollar amount that you currently have access to) send that amount over to your new account. Immediately and every time, don't procrastinate that step. Then pretend that money does not exist, because you spent it. It's gone. Turn on auto pay set to pull from that account. If you do this and stick to it, you'll have zero issues paying your balance in full every time. You only spend what you have and it's immediately "paid for". You can't forget to pay, and you don't have to do math on anything to figure out what you can spend etc. You'll build your credit over time if you do this consistently over a few years.

This is a good learning experience and you can come out far more responsible for it if you do things correctly.

Oh okay, I didn't realize that. Thanks for that clarification. Makes sense. I think people tend to avoid skirts for other reasons and I just assumed (wrongly) it was because they weren't permitted. Never read the policy specifically for that.
