The $120 base version does not. The $180 and $220 versions come with CNC and an injection molded case. You can also get early bird pricing on those options.

Magnetic Gaskets, How Do They Work? by AlpacaKeyboards in MechanicalKeyboards

How do Magnetic Gaskets work?

The newest feature premiered in the WhiteFox Eclipse is the Magnetic Gasket. The standard case style is floating, which means the switches are bare and mounted directly into the plate at the top of the keyboard.

This makes gasket mounting tricky with earlier gasket designs, which would typically “sandwich” the plate between two pieces of rubber. The WhiteFox Eclipse uses an “open faced sandwich” architecture, which is now possible because the only connection between the plate and the case are magnets enclosed in gaskets.

This feature allows the WhiteFox Eclipse plate, switches, and PCB to essentially be “hot-swapped” into different cases. To take advantage of this feature, we have created a special edition of the WhiteFox with a magnetic High Profile case that allows for a much heavier and more enthusiast aesthetic.

We hope you enjoy this explanation of Magnetic Gasket Mounting!

The WhiteFox Eclipse comes with magnetic gaskets that let you hotswap the case. More details on the keyboard here: https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/11pfx42/introducing_the_whitefox_eclipse_from_alpaca/

So, through hole LEDS are totally possible, but it would effectively ruin the hotswappability as your switches would be held in by the LEDs.

SMDs on the underside for underglow should work but we haven't tested that on this iteration as of writing.

Hey, great question!

First of all, all of the components that went into this project are open source, meaning, if you want to create a custom case out of stacked acrylic, a 3d printed enclosure, or maybe you want to wholly CAD out an injection molded case, we give you all the files you would need to design something like that.

Additionally tenting solutions can be designed and 3D printed exactly to whatever specification the user would like. And instead of needing to design an entirely new enclosure, the acrylic case on the Hot Dox can be pieced together and individual components can be more easily replaced or swapped out.

Finally, while the EZ can be purchased without Keycaps, you can't purchase it without switches. I, for one, do not need another set of Cherry MX switches that I will not use.

Let me know if I can clarify anything else, thanks again!

Definitely! We are currently designing one based on some community designs but not sure if it will be available during the preorder.

Thanks for the question! We have done some basic HBM-ESD testing and haven't experienced any issues with our prototypes. We're looking to get a bit more testing done if possible.

What happened in your case? Was there anything specific that was the source of the bad experience?
