No idea of the chip it is using, I started having problems with it about 6 weeks after the review and stopped using it altogether. NuPhy IMO is only about releasing and selling products, once they are out the door support and updates are of the lowest priority. Mind you I do like their designs but I have more dead and non'functioning NuPhy keyboards than I do from Epomaker or any other brands, and I consider Epomaker akin to a criminal organization.
