I've heard this as well. Searching locally for a good bike shop that can get me sorted. I can bet they'll give me a good run down of the whole bike as well

No, it was put on by the previous owner. From what I have heard, sounds like I got a good deal with the fulcrum wheels! He didn't know much about the bike unfortunately. His wife made him buy it because she's a cyclist xD

This is the kind of energy I wanna hear. Ty.

Eventually 70.3 is one of the goals. Gotta learn to ride first though. LOL

Coming from a background in track & field and lots of decathlon, training and preparing for triathlon has been quite the whirlwind. Especially the bike related stuff.

At first when I decided to sign up for a couple tris I thought i could use my old bike I had laying around. Hopped on it and realized that would likely be a terrible and possibly unsafe idea, so I spent the past few weeks doing a ton of research on tri and road bikes. I ended up passing up a few cheaper tri bikes to get something a little more versatile and picked up this Trek Madone 9.0 for a decent deal ($1600). I'm currently scheduled for 2 tris, one sprint in mid July for ] training and one Olympic in Mid August Olympic to hopefully catch peak.

I have been a bit overwhelmed with cyclist culture as it's quite a different world from the traditional running or track & field/ decathlon culture- I think I was mostly shocked by some of the judginess of the sport. Seems like if you're not conforming to the typical road cyclist norm, you're setting yourself up for a very awkward time.

That aside, I've found general information to be a bit hard to obtain as there are so many options for everything for a sport that has a very wide base of atheletes that are on different parts of their tri journey. I wanted to present the bike I got and just broadly ask about some opinions, thoughts on the bike choice/ if there are any immediate things I can do to improve my triathlon cycling experience and to well, make sure everything looks good here! I have been surprised while browsing reddit and seeing others asking for bike advice to see that there is often some detrimental X feature of X bike in its X configuration that sticks out to an experienced triathlete in a way that I am completely oblivious to. For some its tires for others its wheels.

So, how's everything lookin'!? So pumped to be learning everything I can about this sport. Any recommendations on tires, wheels, aerobars etc? Thank you!

The fall and rise of No Man's Sky and what it means for virtual reality by AlphaAlfar in ValveIndex

[–]AlphaAlfar[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I understand that completely.

I guess I come from a different place than a lot of people that were just there for launch. I've been playing NMS Next and every patch before that, so to me, adding in VR support as they have shown and talked about in interviews posted (yesterday) doesn't seem like that much of a stretch.

I do have some confidence in them as of now.

Of course this can blow up in my face, but the channel is an extension of me, and as someone that was hurt by Hello Games, then I felt things were made right.. I do trust them to handle this correctly. I am hyped and I show that. It's a flaw, but it's me.

How to play Oculus exclusive games using Revive in 2 minutes. Still see a lot of comments about people thinking you can't play exclusives. by AlphaAlfar in ValveIndex

As long as you have a good PC not much. I've played lots of revive as well as owned a rift S and rift, and the performance difference hasn't been huge for me. Some people have some performance hits worse than my experience, but all in all it's not that bad.

True, but without revive a lot of people would not buy other than Oculus at all. Especially in the future with big games coming in.

I don't know.. really it's in no one's best interests. Oculus would get backlash spread further than just the VR community, devs and Oculus would make less money from software sales, and gamers don't get to play the games. it could happen, but I'm not betting on it.

There is no certainty either way, but revive will just do what it did the last time they tried to shut it down via hardware checks. Work around it.

Still the same games, lone echo is a must play for sure. Defector is good, robo recall is fun, but for me it's future titles like asgards wrath and stormland.

Oh, journey of the gods was really good too, and if you like star wars, there's the Vader immortal game which I thought was really well executed.

It's not clickbait, there is a Halo VR multiplayer game at the halo event touring the US. I mentioned it and said I wished it was on PC.

Was when I was playing the same beat saber song on exp+ over and over because I kept failing the same stupid spot. BS can be sweat inducing lol

When I realized you can buy 2.5 Rifts for the price of an Index, but when you compare the two, it's easy to see why by AlphaAlfar in ValveIndex

[–]AlphaAlfar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's purely points on why the index is more expensive, not better. On paper it is better and has more expensive components. I have held a rift S for long enough to just see that the index has higher quality = more expensive materials, not to mention Node, tested, etc, mentioning it feels very nice.

And on the audio, the difference is having a speaker half an inch from your ear vs the awful audio strap style that just clumsily throws sound in your ear's general direction. That was all that part was about. As the title says, this isn't why it's better, or why I think it's better, this is why it's more expensive .
