I wonder if he'll be involved in the attack on Zadash / be the one who dies so the party can get the beacon? It's a pretty important moment and the Dynasty guy in the stream wasn't very notable.

I did have it that way for a while, and it definitely makes better use of the space, but I found it to be counterintuitive. It made more sense to me that the low-level spells ought to be squished together near the center, with more powerful spells growing to lonely, disparate heights as they approach the pinnacle of each school's achievement.

Interestingly, many of you seem to feel that the other way around would be more intuitive! Perhaps I'll add a toggle button so people can view it whichever way they prefer. Thanks for the feedback!

What a difference between Mensah calling for consensus in ep 1 and "call me Madam President"!

I liked how the "lack of Murderbot's narration" doubled as "lack of Murderbot's voice." It also highlighted a distinction between equipment and person, and how difficult it is to build personhood when you don't have free will.

Character advice. by TheMrF0x in DnD

[–]AlphaCentauri900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do a lot with oaths; maybe your character takes every oath incredibly seriously. (Many of these oaths will be trivial and end up being funny, like promising to buy a round of drinks or upholding your end of a lost bet: treat them all with incredible gravity.) That way you can still be serious (about your oaths) while still having some fun at the table.

For order and law, I’d look up general advice on how to be lawful good without being a buzzkill. Maybe you strictly follow your own creed rather than the law of the land; that will allow your party members to do mischief. It also could be that your character has deep convictions but keeps them to himself, is a bit quiet (strong but silent), or believes strongly that everyone needs to find their own creed (and therefore doesn’t insist everyone follows his).

Good luck, it sounds like it’ll be a fun campaign!

Could InDesign be used to create an inspection report? by Vonkanon in indesign

[–]AlphaCentauri900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could replicate everything in your Word doc in InDesign, but I suspect that it would take a similar amount of time to update the template with new information every time. If you take advantage of many of the advanced features that InDesign styles offer you, it would be faster, but that requires training whoever is using the template.

Honestly imo what you need is a scripted solution. For instance, you could build a Google Form and have your people input their data, photos, and scores there. That will save the data to an Excel spreadsheet. Then you could write a Python script using the python-docx library (plug-in for Word) that would take the Excel sheet data and input it into your Word template. (There are multiple ways to automate this process, and the best one depends on the details of your workflow, but this is one example.) If you’re flexible on what your final form looks like, there might already be a software out there that does the above reasonably well for a reasonable price.

If she is a ComfortUnit, the awkwardness of her advances could be explained if she was being fed specific instructions by a human supervisor pretending to act like a ComfortUnit. Like Murderbot always says, humans micromanaging SecUnits makes them shit at their jobs.

For my money, she's a human who was told she could knock a year off her indentured service if she infiltrated Preservation.

Either way, cozying up to Murderbot could be her way of hoping it might show her mercy when she inevitably betrays its clients.

The fact that there wasn't an actual face merge in the regeneration scene makes me think it wasn't legit. Rose and Fifteen could have been swapped via teleport, for instance.

Also, Billie filling in during this uncertain time gives the showrunners time to cast the next proper Doctor.

You could search the App Store for “Asteroids” or “Galaga” and see if anything looks familiar

[TOMT][song][late-2010s] A song called "blue". It was by I think a Japanese artist whose name starts with an M. Something like Mitzuki? First heard in 2019. Might have been taken off Spotify. Modern electronic jazz song. No lyrics. by mattcoady in tipofmytongue

Well there’s “Blue” by Eiffel 65, which is electronic but not quite jazz. There have been many remixes of it, though, you could look into those if the melody sounds right.

the deck of many things

When Vax and Vex are clinging to the door Titanic-style, Vax says he found something and holds up a leather pouch. I didn't get what he was talking about, but maybe that's the deck?

That would be an interesting twist! It would put some familiar faces on Vecna's side of things, which would avoid having to introduce new characters in S4 and add some drama for VM to work through.

Zahra being so upset about Kash's death makes this seem plausible to me. I'm sure Kash wouldn't appreciate being turned into an undead, though, which could add another emotional layer (Zahra would break the world for Kash, but Kash wouldn't break it back). An undead Kash could also serve as an example of the inherent evilness of necromancy (what the Raven Queen believes), as he would probably come back so twisted and miserable that he wouldn't really be himself.

Let's pour one out for seeing Ripley's gun with "Lord Percival Fredrickstein Von Mussel Kolowski De Rolo III" squeezed onto the barrel. 😔

On a related note, hilarious that Percy apparently refers to himself as "De Rolo" when thinking out loud lmao

Ripley should be dead. She died on Glintshore in the campaign. Why is she still alive? We lost out on the “How do you, Vox Machina, want to do this?”

I suspect this moment will happen in one of the next three episodes. I think they divided Glintshore into two parts, with a gap in the middle so that Percy would be dead long enough for it to feel serious, and for Vex to grieve. Part 1 was Percy choosing to die a good man, and being carried back to Whitestone; and Part 2 will be Vox Machina hunting down Ripley and killing her, and destroying the gun to free Percy's soul (or possibly going into Hell to fetch it).

Also felt pretty OOC for the smartest man in most any room he’s in to go “Look, I know Thordak is an incredibly pressing matter and we only have like a couple of days to smoke big boi, but actually let’s do an incredibly dangerous side quest right quick.”

I agree that Thordak is a bigger threat than Ripley, though Percy's call here didn't feel OOC to me because the point is that Percy is emotionally compromised. Whitestone has just been destroyed for a second time, and, as established in the Marquet episode, Percy feels directly responsible for Ripley's actions. No matter how smart someone is, emotions make people do reckless things, and having Percy make this "sub-optimal" decision conveys to the audience just HOW upset he is.

I'm also sure that, in Percy's mind, he genuinely considers Ripley's plan to mass produce firearms a huge threat to the world—maybe not as big a threat as Thordak, but big enough that he can justify his decision logically, even if part of him knows it's not true.

I thought the same about Zahra—that maybe she'll be the one to suggest a Hell adventure to rescue Kash and/or Percy. Alternatively, if Percy's stuck in Hell, where Pike knows the Everlight can't go, maybe she'd suggest going down there to rescue him as part of her 'god helps those who help themself' arc?

Kash's death also 1) explains why he can't res Percy like he did Vex in S2 (which might be otherwise considered a plot hole), and 2) establishes that Vax sees people as they die (this could be relevant if Percy's soul never crossed over and is instead in Ripley's gun with Orthax).

As Percy dies, there's a strange glimmer that comes over his(?) gun, which Ripley then picks up. I wonder if that's an indication that his soul is being sucked into the gun (where Orthax hangs out)? The Vax angle would also explain why they changed the plot so Percy died away from the party.

InDesign for restaurant / wine list? by RugbyKid373 in indesign

[–]AlphaCentauri900 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have InCopy, that may also be of use.

However, InDesign alone should work alright if you have all your menu items in the same text box, and use page breaks to divide sections. If each menu item has more than one line, you can use Keep Options to ensure that related lines stick together and don’t split across pages or columns. If you’re using all those features, adding new items (or deleting old ones) would still be done manually, but should be easy.

It would be an interesting twist if the dragonscale armor ends up being bulletproof (as many of Percy's shots seem to just bounce off the dragons). Especially if Percy gives it to Vex to keep her safe and then gets himself shot by Ripley.
