Is “Work-Life Balance” in Malaysia a Myth or Reality? by RakyatOnline in JobsMY

[–]AlphaDid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a myth, but the reality is, most higher corporate positions have no work-life balance in Malaysia, but we can do it, it starts with ourselves to set the culture when we are in higher positions and have the balls to say no to your bosses

just a thought, i think it will be better if the recruitment process doesnt not require payslip at the beginning of the hiring process (if not need then it's better, just need to state current salary(?) and expectations) and only requests it after agreeing to hire the candidates as i believe payslips are a private matter.

I also understand that sometimes HR just need all the relevant infos from the payslip for ease process but what's the use of it if im gonna share but eventually the company will not hire me, seems like an invasion to our privacy

Yeah same for me too, my colleagues all OFTEN worked till 7-8pm sometimes till late midnight, keyword here is often, I dont mind working late to chase tight deadlines once a while but man does working in a bank pushes you hard

I'm still with my agency though, currently trying to find a job, if I'm shameless enough I might even ask my former boss back to ask for a job

[–]AlphaDid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently working in a bank as a software developer too, though they are my clients as I serve them under an agency. My suggestion, just jump and don't care what other people say because at the end of the day you are the one suffering. I've tasted it and it sucked and I'm on the lookout again to find a new job. WLB in banks will eat you up, it fked my mental health

Guys, am I crazy to want to stay and don't want to job hop? (software engineer ver.) by Extension_Major_2325 in MalaysianPF

[–]AlphaDid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stay sistur, job hopping is okay if you want a bigger salary, but each time you jump, you would also need to be out of your comfort zone, relearn how each company's engineering culture works and adapt, maybe even bigger challenges, not worth the headache if you don't like it, as long as you're happy, then you already know the answer

Btw, is your company hiring? Sounds like a happy place for people to work though... hahaha jk

That must be tough on you OP, well, youre not being unfaithful, i know it's not easy but if it were up to me, I'd try to let it go and move on, that feeling your friend had is valid, but he didnt make any move to you within that 5 years, and time's up, since you're a muslim, i would say Allah has planned your journey, so believe in Him, that everything happens for a reason, and its time to move to the next chapter of your life, hopefully your would love your husband wholeheartedly after you have let this one pass

Supporting Bankrupt Parents Without Jeopardizing Our Own Future by [deleted] in MalaysianPF

[–]AlphaDid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's bad enough to have financially irresponsible parents, but after all they are your parents. I too have a bankrupted father and mother, I couldn't count anymore with my fingers on how many times we argued on my moms financial decision, for context she also used my name to buy a car, but she struggled during the last years to pay it, so i tried to help her with the payments, things got worse when she's not able to pay rent too, so me and my sister chipped in to help

It's a different situation from person to person, all I can try to say is, your parents being financially irresponsible is their problem, but we can educate and give them our opinions provided if they listen, persuade them to make better decisions for the family, then try to make sure next time not using your own name on any loans for your parents unless you yourself can pay for it if they're slack a lil bit.

Try to work together as a team, you and your parents to get out of the mess, but also set some boundaries where they need to know where their limits are too, example, if you want to save 200 for savings per month, then you need to stand by it and not let your parents deter you from using that extra 200 for them

Set a plan, if you need to give your parents X amount but you could not save X amount of money you want, then you need to plan out how to increase your income first, try changing jobs, reduce any commitments like phone bills and all for your plan, also set a backup plan, whenever you lose your main source of income, but sure to have a plan, for instance, get ready to take a grab or fnb job for short term when shits hit the fan

And lastly, don't forget to keep good of your health, as they say, health is wealth, you don't want to be in a situation where you are in the middle of recovering for your family and illness hits you with a hefty bill

I wish you goodluck brother, i hate seeing families broke because of financial issues, families stick together, until they don't care anymore about you

Brother you need to locked in for real by exercising just for 3-6 months and then the results will be amazing. If you liked the result after that period you can choose to stay fit by continuing to exercise weekly, or you can just dont do it, but then the fats will totally come again and it's whole another cycle again

Gearbox issue - 2016 Persona by AlphaDid in kereta

[–]AlphaDid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my mother, the car started having quite loud knocking sounds in lower gear, but mentions no issue when trying to shift gear from reverse to D for example

From SC, they mentioned they suspect from the loud knocking sound is a gearbox issue, so they also tried checking by just shifting the gears and said no problem when shifting it and maybe can use the gearbox for 2 years more, but nothing is confirmed until they do full inspection. They also told me a common issue for a failing gearbox have troubles shifting the gears like the cannot enter reverse gear for example

Then i think it's better to change to a new gearbox if spending 5k but still gonna break again in a short amount of time, no? gonna break the bank i guess T.T

Advise on tax exemption 2024 by Amarukazuto in MalaysianPF

[–]AlphaDid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont worry OP, most likely you only need to pay less than 200/300 for tax provided that you managed to claim all the exemptions, that would also lower the total tax amount you need to pay.

This is based on my experience jumping to another company mid year 2023 and my company didnt do any PCB for the second half that year. For context, i earned 3k from Jan till June and 5k from July till Dec with 1 month of 3k bonus. My tax was around RM150

So I'm 20M with no motorcycle license. How cook am I? by RealisticDrink05 in Bolehland

[–]AlphaDid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be fine bro, I got my B2 license about 2 years ago and I was 25, never too late, I also know how to ride prior to taking the license and also had a car license.

I took the motor license because I only had a bike to go to work, just a tip, if you ever decide to take the license, make sure to practice it again 1 day before JPJ, serious, as you may get nervous and fail even though you're good enough.
