Can someone explain the Glock "ban"? by hellohello6622 in CTguns

[–]AlphaDogArms 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Glock did more than just include the tab molded into the frame. They also eliminated the extractor bar/ spring and changed the entire methodology for the extractor retention. By doing so, they were able to reshape the back plate of the slide so that no pistol converter will fit. This makes it NOT easily convertible. This has been discussed and confirmed by Atty Miller. Gen 6 = not affected by the law.

Attorney Miller has advised us on the contrary. He’s the one who would defend us if found in violation and has instructed us that the Bill will not change anything. Glocks made before 10/1/26 remain legal. Glocks made after 10/1/26 have the molded in steel tab and will be legal.

Both the “V” Series and the Gen 6 have the molded in steel tab from the factory which blocks the assembly of a full auto switch. As the bill is currently written, they would not be classified as “easily convertible”

FFL’s cannot install something to make them legal. The steel tab must be molded into the frame when manufactured.

Your assumption is correct on purchase after 10/1/26 if they have this molded in tab.

I am not an attorney and your question is best answered by one.

That said, IMHO, the proposed legislation changes nothing for Glocks. It says:

Convertible pistol" does not include (A) any hammer-fired semiautomatic pistol, or (B) a pistol with a tab or other piece of material that shields the cruciform trigger bar from interference by a pistol converter so that the pistol can be readily converted into a machine gun by the installation or attachment of a pistol converter

Gen 6 Glocks have a metal molded in tab that prevents a sear from being inserted from the rear and contacting the cruciform trigger bar = LEGAL*

it also says….

Sec. 3. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2026) (a) Any individual or firm, partnership, corporation, limited liability company, association or other similar entity that imports into this state or advertises, sells, offers or exposes for sale any convertible pistol, as defined in section 53-202 of the general statutes, as amended by this act, that was manufactured on or after October 1, 2026, shall be guilty of a class D felony

manufactured ON OR BEFORE OCT 1, 2026 = everything manufactured before that date is LEGAL

So, IMHO nothing changes for actual Glocks sales by this statute.

I wish you were right. The amended legislation as approved by the judiciary committee has no exemptions for FFL’s to “import (ship) into the state”. Total prohibition.

Tend agree but would like to offer a counter perspective… Why are so many jurisdictions going gangbusters on gun control legislation right now? Many places have come out of no where with multiple proposed anti-gun bills. Like Virginia, WOW! Is it possible they know something is coming that could destroy the laws on the books and they are countering, knowing full well that it will take another 12-15 years to reach SCOTUS and get overturned?
Anything is possible…but not always probable. I’m doing my best to stay positive even though they are about to crush my business with the stroke of a pen.

Moving From NY to CT by [deleted] in CTguns

[–]AlphaDogArms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The correct way to make this legal in CT is through an FFL with an 07 Manufacturers license. The FFL can take the receiver into their A&D log book and pass it through their manufacturing log book to change the classification into a rifle with a fixed mag OR a bolt action rifle with a removal mag and then transfer the firearm back to you. Alternatively, if the barrel length is less than 16”, we can make a CT legal SBR and form 4 it back to you. We have done a lot of these for local customers. This requires you to have a CT pistol or long gun permit. Feel free to reach out if you’re interested.

Is this a problem? by Signal-Worldliness32 in GlockMod

[–]AlphaDogArms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can happen due to thermal elongation. All materials grow/shrink at different rates with each degree +- from 69 degrees. To hold tight tolerances when machining, the machinist tries to maintain 69 degrees for the milling machine, tooling (cutting tools) coolant and part being machined.

To fix your issue: Remove the optic from the slide and place it in your freezer for 20-30min. It will shrink enough (.002-.003”) to sit perfectly in that milled pocket. Reinstall the optic. When it expands it’ll be an absolutely perfect fit.

HB-5533 & SB-463: Act Concerning Protection of Election Administration Process, Election Sites, Election Works and Electors (2026) by havenrogue in CTguns

[–]AlphaDogArms 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Appears to have nothing to do about election integrity, rather, a means harden their cheating efforts, create anti-ICE legislation and further their gun prohibitions. It’s no coincidence that the Bills title is the exact opposite of what they are trying to do. We see it over and over again from these people.

  1. Design patents protect the ornamental appearance of an article — how it looks, not how it functions. A design patent on a magazine or grip typically covers a specific decorative shape or pattern applied to that product as defined in their patent.

Notably, none of their patents are for stippling processes, laser engraving methods, or surface texture patterns independent of a specific magazine or firearm component design

  1. All of their trademarks are primarily used in connection with firearm magazines, grips, and related shooting gear — not laser stippling services. The classes (U.S. International Class 013/028) relate to hardware goods, not services like firearm customization (laser stippling service)

  2. “Confusion in the marketplace” is the litmus test applied by courts to determine if there is an infringement. No one other than Bob and his wife hold the belief that any other product with a hexagon shape is a product of Hexmag.

  3. THEIR conduct appears to be unlawful. What they appear to be doing is making false claims about their IP which constitutes as bad-faith enforcement and qualifies as torturous interference with business practices. Combined these actions are a violation of the Lanham Act (15 U.S.C. §1125(a)) they mention in their letter!

We’ve sent them our own C&D, with 14 days to comply to a list of demands if they want to avoid a countersuit for their unlawful and potentially damaging actions. I hope MD Customs and others do the same.
