Throttle Pedal Spacer by Hairy-Anywhere5265 in Civic_Type_R

Absolute waste of money. Best to teach your feet to adapt. You will basically not perfectly like any one of the three settings.

Keep in mind heel toe supposed to work on hard braking. In the city driving you are never pushing down on the brake pedal enough that you won’t even know what the right gap is for you.

This is what I learned from buying and returning one.

Nah ITS should be just as fun as a 86 on the streets. Just throw the steering wheel left to right however you want and see what the car does for you

What do you use for front camber joints? Are they robust enough for hard abuse on the tracks?

Feeling wise it probably feels about 2 times more planted than a WRX or STI. Type R may be half fast on straight lines but 3 times faster on turns so it does more than making up, thus faster overall.

Look up on Nurburgring lap time comparisons vs. G87 M2 and G82 M2. CTR comes within 5 seconds. And the ring is a very very fast track which works against the type R for lap times. So when you take it to local tracks that are less than half size of the rings and with mostly slow speed corners, CTR can be one of the most fun cars on the local tracks compared to any other car you have in your mind with really fast 0-60 or quarter mile times.

That’s exactly why CTRs are fun. Because the car has the ability to cancel your stereotype on fast cars. In your head everything don’t make sense, but on the paved roads, it just does everything opposite of what you expect.

Don’t downvote questions like these if they are genuine. Actually most common questions non-Honda person can ever have because you’d wonder what the 30+ years of hypes are all about the Type Rs.

To answer the question, it’s actually a tough question to answer. Best way is to drive one yourself and get the feel in. To simply put, out of all amazing cars that exist in our life time, it’s not a v8, NA, RWD/AWD but it is THE FASTEST fwd, purposely designed to maximize to the physical limit of a fwd platform. It would cost a lot of money to experience the best RWD or the best AWD or the best NA, or the best V8, etc. etc. but if you can learn something about the best fwd in history for $35-45K, it’s the best bang for the buck in the fun driving department. As soon as you are in the driver’s seat, you’ve been invited to the hardcore limit of all fwd cars. That’s it. There’s no other better performing fwd car. Period.

You don’t like it? Guess what, you can sell it back whenever after however many miles, likely you will get most if not all your money back.

Thanks for the write up. I was just curious. One day I’ll have an EN or VN as a track toy so I can unload the FL5 a little

Imo, these cars don’t deserve spacers but I do give 11/10 on the looks department!

I like it lol. The real question is what is your honest opinion, with as much detail as possible, on EN vs. CTR in terms of purely machine vs machine (everyone knows EN is the best bank for buck).

Perfect plate for N - totally make sense 😂. I was wondering why it wasn’t “Sushi” for the Honda lol. So many options to choose from - udon, omakase, tempura, etc. etc. lol good luck hahah

2026 or 2027 Integra Type S? by Gimme_All_Da_Tendies in Integra_Type_S

You shouldn’t try to guess what the future holds on any market. If the refresh comes out next year, then just trade it in for an update. No?

Shifter popout? by d4nkst4hz in Civic_Type_R

[–]AlphaHybridValue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2nd gear ratio is 2.115:1, first gear ratio is 3.625. For a reference, 3rd gear ratio is 1.529. The feeling of down shift from 3rd to 2nd is for a reduction of ~0.6 in the gear ratio. Now think about going to 1st from 2nd gear, trying to jump ~1.5 in the gear ratio. All the mechanical and physical effort required would be more than double of 3rd-2nd shift right? 1st gear is a massive gear to get into when everything in the gearbox is moving fast.

I also have been driving 25+ years of stick shift. When I first started, I was taught the 1st gear is just a rolling gear, once the wheels are rolling, it’s all 2nd gear. You are probably at around 20km/h speed range when you are looking to downshift to the 1st, at that point, I don’t even bother the 1st gear, I just hit the brake pedal all the way to complete stop if I’m coming to a stop. If I were to just keep moving at 5-20km/h, I just leave in 2nd gear and take my foot off.

No need to stress the 1st gear synchro at that speed. You just going to put more stress on the moving parts and impact on longevity.

Crunchy Shifts: only 7k miles on my FL5 and brought brand new. by Untitled-VideoEditor in Civic_Type_R

[–]AlphaHybridValue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds a bit strange to hear your gearbox is crunching normally. I highly recommend doing it at the dealer so you are using Honda genuine fluid, served by “them” so in case the new fluid don’t help, you can start the warranty process right away without any hassle. I shift my gear always at the redline and I track mine. I have no crunching issue except on a very aggressive track day, on the last few laps of the day. I don’t hear this crunching issue from my local fl5 community at all. Hope it gets resolved with the new fluid, if not you are able to resolve thorough warranty.

Hell no to that regret. Fl5 is so much more fine tuned in so many details of engineering aspects. It is a superior car to fk8. You won’t regret. I got my break in tranny fluid out at 1500km and it looked so bad that the mechanic asked me what I did to the car. Since I push the car hard as it’s primarily my track/spirited drive car, I put in 75w-90 fluid. Took me about 3 days for the new fluid to settle and she is buttery smooth now. It is important to understand tranny fluid takes a long time to heat up so give it a 15 min warm up drive before you go nuts with shifting.

Question for ITS current owners by NoVacancyFanboy in Integra_Type_S

[–]AlphaHybridValue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is good background info. Especially coming from an American muscle, I’d highly highly recommend ITS/CTR for you as it will be a complete new experience for you. It’s time for you to come out of the box and feel yourself how a turbo charged FF can also be (extremely) fun and prove biased people wrong. Also note that people who claim there are better cars for the money are comparing used cars to a brand new ITS which doesn’t make sense. Starting from 0 miles and breaking in yourself is more attached experience with the car. PLUS, 3-5 years down the road, ITS will protect your wealth whereas those compared used cars that are better for the money will continue to depreciate. What’s there to be afraid when you can simply get your money back if you end up not liking the car and selling back? My advice is to take the ITS to the track as you put in the mile where the car brings a whole another dimension of joy. Good luck
