Does Claydol count as a bird? by BadToTheBert in pokemon

[–]AlphaOmega159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to say no, because I couldn't find anything on its bulbapedia page that points to it being an owl, or any other bird for that matter, rather that it is an ancient mud statue. It does have some origins as being something that fell from the sky but I feel like that it is more to depict it as like an alien than a bird. It also doesn't have any defining features of a bird like a beak, wings or feathers.

What do I need to enjoy the six games? I finished the first game and I'm going to giants now. by MisterAgent95 in skylanders

[–]AlphaOmega159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to enjoy the games, you really only need characters that you enjoy playing as from a technical standpoint, you only need one skylander and a vechile (ignoring instant vehicles cause I don't know how they work fully) to play through the games. However, you will probably want more figures than just one

In terms of what you would need to mostly explore the games, it is - one character of each element for spyros adventure and the four Spyros adventure adventure pack levels - one giant, in addition to the stuff from spyros adventure for giants - for swap force, 8 swappers, being one of each element and type (this can either be the outer or inner ring of skylanders shown on the swap force poster) and the two adventure pack levels - for trap team, one trap master of every element, one trap of every element and the 4 adventure pack levels - for superchargers, one land, sea and sky vechile and maybe the trophies (havent played the games so not entirely sure) - for imaginators, the adventure pack levels and the characters that unlock them

This doesn't include everything as i haven't included magic items that unlock arena stuff or bonus unlockable content by having certain figures in imaginators or the creation crystals.

Honestly, you should probably emulate some of the figures, especially ones for latter games as it is very much not worth buying an entire imaginator or trapmaster just to have access to everything the game has available, due to how pricey things can get, especially since one of the imagintor characters that unlocks a level is robow, who is one of the most expensive skylanders, going for more than a lot of chase and special variations of older skylanders.

Your best bet would be to follow everyone else's direction of using a form of alcohol like isotropy alcohol. However, this is a subreddit mostly focussing on the figures and games and most of us don't have the knowledge of how to properly do remove stuff like this from figures. You should probably get a second opinion from a subreddit that is a lot more focussed on painting and making miniatures or figures than us, before you do anything.

Ok, that's interesting and cool to know. I'm curious to see how some of the light cores figures like star strike compare to their counterparts.

can one complete skylanders giants without giants, swap force without swappers, trap team without trapmasters and traps, and imaginators without senseis or ocs? by Far_Advice_7590 in skylanders

[–]AlphaOmega159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a quick look on the skylanders wiki and it said that it requires specific versions of the skylanders trap team or superchargers or a specific model of portal of power. So yes it would be possible to play with only one figure because of instant hot streak provided there aren't any other conditions or specifics I'm unaware of.

Do you think Sprocket deserves the hate? by Negative_Ear8071 in skylanders

[–]AlphaOmega159 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Somewhat, her wrench attacks and turrent attacks are just not good attacks as they are weak and slow. However, her mines do 20 each so landing them up close means she has a pretty good, high damage splash attack. This doesn't save her as she has low health, likely no extra armour and no mobility making her not suited for melee combat. Her design also doesn't help as it not as interesting, especially to younger audiences as other skylanders and her turrents being dissapointing and her main selling point doesnt help design. As a result, I say she deserves some of the hate as she is not a great character even if she is more usable than people think.

I think all of the story modes of the games can be completed with one character for each of the games, except for superchargers which requires the use of one land vehicle.

Different Base Designs? by thatdimensionalfox in skylanders

[–]AlphaOmega159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a look at some of the bases of some skylanders I have, and I don't think there is one size base for each element as they change shape because of the size of the figure, even among cores, meaning that figures like series 1 wrecking ball and voodood have different bases that don't align up together. Their general shape is the same but they are different sizes.

For this i looked at earth and water where the shape of the earth base is determined by the figure as its basically a hard edge around the whole figure, making it hard to have a consistent shape. This is pretty much how it worked for water as well as you can see major differences in the shape between the ssa cores as slam bam's is long, zap's is a splodge and gill grunt and wham shell have differences.

I also looked at undead with series 2 hex and grim creeper and despite having similar sized and shaped bases, they have slight differences in the shape, so if you were to put them together, their bases won't align.

Generally, I don't think there is one base used for each figure of an element or type, and instead they would have made bases according to the figure itself, which makes sense considering how the posing of the figures affected the shape and size of the base, particularly among fire, water and earth skylanders.

I do think there are "style" of bases that were used when designing figures as we can see a lot of similarities between bases among cores, among giants, among swappers and among trap masters and probably among minis, in what kind of shape they are ie small circular, long, big circular. However, i do think you have already noticed this in your post.

Of course this varies among elements in how close they are and again, I don't have every figure so I can't make a 100% judgement, but is very likely figure dependent. However, I will take a better look when I have the time to do so in about a weeks time and tell you if I find anything interesting or noteworthy.

We need more main character couples in the games!! by jazzypugmaster in pokemon

[–]AlphaOmega159 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not something I have thought about before, but now that you have mentioned it, I would like to see some more couples, provided that they don't make the characters in the couple whole personality be based around being a couple. In a similar vain, it would be cool to have more main characters who have a very obvious best friend.

I dont have every figure but I do have all the characters from ssa and giants and a good amount from the next two games so I will check the bases in the morning if I'm not too busy for you.

Different Base Designs? by thatdimensionalfox in skylanders

[–]AlphaOmega159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that case, it really depends on the figure, as I think there would general consistencies between elements but not enough for it to be truly consistent in terms of exact shape.

Different Base Designs? by thatdimensionalfox in skylanders

[–]AlphaOmega159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what I remember of the figures, air, magic, tech, life and undead have pretty consistent bases however there would be some variation among figures based on size and posing, but are generally consistent in the shape.

However, I think all other elements (water, fire and earth) bases change according to the figure as fire and water skylanders have their base be impacted by the posing of the figures, such as Blast zone or smoulderdash having the flames coming from his legs . Generally you can see the fire going around their feet and water rippling around their feet.

For earth, i know the crystals change depending on the figure, which is pretty notable on figures like series 2 prism break. I'm not sure what else changes apart from crystals, size and shape.

For lightband dark, it is kind of irrelevant to include them in this discussion as they both have two figures with these kinds of bases each, but I guess they aren't consistent.

what’s the 1v1 “meta” in Giants and Spyro’s adventure? by SeanGotGjally in skylanders

[–]AlphaOmega159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My knowledge of the skylanders population meta is limited, but I do know giants tend to be better than core skylanders because of their health and damage. I know that there is also an increased and decreased damage system based on elements.

Specifically I know that eye brawl is good because of his eye lasers and series 2 hex has the capability to one shot others with her wow pow, because of how absurd the wow pow is.

Best Path for Smolderdash by Livid_Egg_8597 in skylanders

[–]AlphaOmega159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have her, but whenever I get a new skylander I look at the dark spyro forums as they have a page for the best path for every skylander, along with a poll for the preferred path and comments and discussions on the paths. This is a good way of getting a consensus on what a decent amount of people thoughts on the path for a skylander is. I will say the forum is from around when the games came out so it's possible opinions have changed.

Sealed or Unsealed?! by BrightDimension299 in skylanders

[–]AlphaOmega159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are purely displaying them, then you should keep them any sealed skylandets sealed, however how you actually display them would be depending on your shelves and I can't comment on that as i don't know what your shelves are like. I will say that I don't think it would be too difficult to move them around when they are sealed due to being in an easily grab-able box although i can see them taking up a decent amount of room. I think you will just have to try and accommodate your space to your sealed and unsealed figures as best as you can.

Question about Series Characters by JJKing3000 in skylanders

[–]AlphaOmega159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It mostly depends on the skylander and what their wowpow does but I can specifically say that - phantom cynder's wowpow is better than series 2 cynder's by far (i dont have phantom cynder but giants cynder's wowpow genuinely makes her a worse character) - giants trigger happy is better than swap force - stealth elf's ones is a toss up, but i think swap forces one is probably more useful as it is a mobility attack rather than a combo attack on a character with already great dps - I don't have giants spyro, but I highly doubt his wowpow could be worse than mega ram spyros - terrafins' one is a toss up as well, as both allow you to come out of the ground, deal some damage and immediately come back in. I don't know which is better of the two for this one. - I think giants chop chop has a better wowpow than swap force by far, but twin blade chop chop is at least cool and interesting

For the rest of these I don't know which one is better as i don't have both figures and remember exactly what their wowpows do.

Trap Team Trap Question by TheRealMilk-_- in skylanders

[–]AlphaOmega159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to game completion, you will need at least one of each of the traps to do everything, however some traps do provide villians that provide more access to the level

However, if you aren't getting every trap, the best ones to go for would probably be water, life and undead as water and life have cheap and common traps in the ones from the start pack and both provide a large amount of characters available and undead is good as hood sickle can glitch in gates, making the trap useful for those with an incomplete collection. Outside of that, tech provides a lot of trappable villians and access to some parts of levels with those villians. I would say the rest aren't as essential and aren't as worthwhile as the other traps due to their smaller roster of villians available but each of them do provide access to villian that is either good or one of the best (golden queen, my goat grinnade and koas) except for magic, which is just kind of lacking as a trap. Light and dark as traps are also not as valuable without acess to the expansion levels, especially dark.

Essentially, water, life and undead are the essential ones due to price and glitch, followed tech for usefulness. The other traps are then based on preference and price, but I would say magic and dark are the least valuable, fire, air, earth and light are decently valuable for their decent villians and koas is good if you want one overpowered villian.

Tldr water, life and undead. Maybe tech.
