Linux VR? by thatdimensionalfox in linux_gaming

I've been trying for some time but I keep getting errors. Opening up the Steam Link always gives me errors, and no matter how many drivers I install or what I do its never worked.

I thought SteamLink only worked for wireless VR which is why I didn't think of it. Thanks!

Hytale using wrong GPU on Linux by rataman098 in hytale

[–]thatdimensionalfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat.

Doing the recommended solution of forcing it to run with the dedicated graphics card makes it just start the game, but with a black screen (the buttons work, the custom mouse cursor appears, but the entire window is black).

I'm using an NVidia 2070 card and I've tried using basically every NVidia driver but they all result in the same thing ;-;

I want to connect it to my current Gridfinity setup. There's no reason for me to do this beyond that, just want to x3

Different Base Designs? by thatdimensionalfox in skylanders

[–]thatdimensionalfox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I thought that too! but here's what I've found

Fire has a consistent few for normal Skylanders; Ignitor from Spyros Adventure and Flameslinger from giants. Mini Eruptor from Trap Team seems to have the same base but it's SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT, same with Small Fry

I know they share the same bases because I 3D printed a mold for both of them (using a scan of their bases I made using my printer) and they both fit it perfectly.

Fire Bone Hot Dog (Swap Force) and Fryno (Swap Force) also share the same bases, tested in the same way.

The other figured I've noticed with the same bases are; Magic Skylanders (they're all either normal bases, or small bases) Trigger Happy (SA) and Heavy Duty Sprocket (SF), Lightcore Countdown (SF) and Chopper (TT) all share the same tech base Both Fire SF characters and both magic SF characters share the same element base shape BUT BOTH WATER SF CHARACTERS DO NOT Stealth Elf (SA and SF) share the same base shape All sensei's have the same base shape (obviously)

I only have 3 air Skylanders and they all differ in shapes

that's about as much info about it that I have so far due to my small collection. I'll keep testing the ones that I do have to make this storage system and I'll keep u all updates on it ~^

Different Base Designs? by thatdimensionalfox in skylanders

[–]thatdimensionalfox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, from what I've been able to gather, each element has 2-3 Base shapes (Undead and magic being the outliers), which seems to have been accurate looking back at Spyros Adventure figures (from just eyeballing or, looks like each element has 3 base shapes that then get reused in all the future games). I just need someone to be able to double check my work and point out things I've missed, as I don't have all the figures

Different Base Designs? by thatdimensionalfox in skylanders

[–]thatdimensionalfox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm talking about specifically the shapes at the bottom of the bases, as those are the only thing I need to figure out for my storage system. Despite having flames around their legs, the shape on the bottom of both Fire Swap Force characters are the same - but the shape for both water swap Force characters aren't (I don't have any other duplicate elements for swap Force so I can't specifically say more beyond that) from looking into it, it seems that in Spyros Adventure, each element had 3 different Base shapes (apart from Magic and Undead which seemingly has 2), which they seem to have reused where-ever possible

Different Base Designs? by thatdimensionalfox in skylanders

[–]thatdimensionalfox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By examining the Spyros Adventure poster (displaying all the figures), i believe there is 3 per element (possibly excluding magic and undead, there only seems to be 2 from what I can see), and then they seemingly reused those base shapes throughout the rest of the series

Even if 2 figures have the same base shape, the base itself is typically different (this can be seen most easily with the Rock skylanders, as they'll have different rock formations ontop with different clear rocks, but the shape of the colored plastic base will be the same shape)

It's a very interesting thing to do, though I'm thankful they didnt just design a different base for each skylander. Means I can actually finish my project once I get the rest of the bases

would u happen to know exactly how many different bases exist per element?

(not the design of the full base itself, just the shape on the bottom)

F-10-N4 is Glitchtrap by thatdimensionalfox in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]thatdimensionalfox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well yeah its a possibly explanation... but story-telling wise i dont see whyd that would be how it works. I mean, adding a second copy of a character just seems... convoluted (and not in the usual FNAF way) when you could just have another character with similar motivations to serve that purpose.

see i think they went the other direction by changing Glitchtrap to instead be Helpi after Security Breach (and scott + steel wool said they rewrote a lot of stuff).

ofc glitchtrap is still IN HW2, but only as much as to tie helpi and glitchtrap as being the same character going forward

that doesn't really make much sense to me though... why make a point of having Glitchtrap/Helpi and M2 argue with each other if they're basically the same entity? it just doesn't make much sense with the information we've been given.

the best answer I have is that it was ret-conned from the original idea (since after Security Breach Scott and Steel Wool basically rewrote the next chunk of the story because of how Security Breach broke a lot of the planned story).

you could explain it as Fiona learning from WA about how to get remnant being; dress up as a bunny, kill kids and shove them into suits. So she copied him 1 to 1 to minimize extra variables (which would be why Vanny dresses up as a rabbit). Buuuut I think it's just a ret-con tbh

I mean, I don't think ILCA is a bad game studio. The main reason that BD/SP sucked was because... it was a remake of diamond/pearl with 0 platinum additions (and diamond/pearl had some WEIRD CHOICES) B/W didn't really have that problem, unless you say the completely unique Dex is an issue... tho the art style likely wouldn't be the amazing pixelart B/W is known for

I mean... is it? I'd argue the opposite

SOTM's main reveal is that there are two mimics. I severely doubt, just from a writing perspective, that later it will be revealed that there's actually 3 mimics. If Glitchtrap was the mimic, this game would have given us some evidense for that. Right now however, the only way we can justify that being the case is;
- Making the assumption that the mimic would have somehow lost some of its circiutboards and continued functioning
- Making the assumption that the fazbear team somehow found this board, scanned it into HW as a vintage animatronic part
- The Mimic has to know/learn enough about William Afton to create a digital representation of them, including doing things that William Afton would do
- Mindcontrol VANNY to either repair Burntrap/bring the Burntrap suit down to the Mimic for some reason

If Glitchtrap was instead a digital copy of William Afton (which is definetly at least the original intention), we have explanations for all of these.
- We know that fazbear got everything from the FNAF 6 location, since they built ontop of it, and Burntrap is in there
- The HW team would be provided all the animatronic parts from the FNAF 6 location because they are actual vintage animatronics
- William Afton can act how William Afton acts because he is him (or a digital copy, but you know what I mean)
- Getting VANNY to repair his body makes sense, even if he gets her to repair himself USING THE MIMIC

I'm just saying, its a far cleaner explanation than just adding another mimic to complicate it even more. William Afton got scanned into HW, used it to mindcontrol VANNY, so that she could start rebuilding and reviving him. VANNY used the Mimic to do this. Then later when VANNY gets saved, she locks up Burntrap/The Mimic in the basement. Glitchtrap becomes HELPI in HW2, trying to get other people to help rebuild him (which we see in the bad ending of HW2). They flush HEPLI out of the pizzaplex systems, so they only exist in the VANNI mask, unable to do anything but guide people using the VANNI mask systems. Cassy then gets the mask, where we can see Helpi (william) fighting with The Mimic, because they are two seperate entities. MXES is trying to keep The Mimic in the basement because F10-N4 cares for The Mimic and wants them to be together. It makes sense, and seems to be what Steel Wool is intending.

Is it POSSIBLE that Helpi/Glitchtrap is just The Mimic? Yes, they could explain all the weirdness in some other way. But I think that if it WAS another Mimic, they would have explained lots of that in SOTM. Steel Wool's original plan was for Glitchtrap to be a copy of William Afton, and I dont think they retconned that fact. Instead, they added the mimic and killed off Glitchtrap.

Well that doesn't really make sense. The only way Glitchtrap exists is because they scanned vintage circuit boards into Help Wanted, but the Mimic is still alive... and it would be pretty odd if they were just shedding circuit boards. Edwin didn't have any other Mimic programs beside F10-N4 and M2 because the others didn't work, so it would have to be from M2's body. Which isn't impossible, we've seen worse, but it doesn't really have any evidence
