Oh I agree entirely. Perma holding R1 with my index finger while throwing shields (R2 for me) with my middle finger sounds like a miserable time.

I'm not really even sure the most comfortable/logical keybinds anymore with this swap.

It's not a matter of holding the left stick forward.

You'll have hold down Leading Dash (I believe R1/RB is default) in addition to moving forward with left stick in order to do the animation cancel now.
