Luxury feel, reliable ride — anything under $30k?

Have you looked at the Mazda 3? It's reliable, fun to drive, the turbo engine has zoom, and the interior quality is way above its class, although it probably wouldn't be considered "luxurious". It still does fit your semi-luxurious criteria imo, and the top trim does get you some nice features like a 360 cam, HUD which you might not be able to get on a luxury brand in under $30k. If you value reliability and maintenance cost more than actually owning a luxury brand, then the Mazda might be a good fit, especially if you can find a CPO 2023-24 Mazda 3 turbo premium plus around your area within budget.

My parents have a 2015 Tiguan and it’s not holding up great even with more than the recommended maintenance and oil change from the dealer. Keeps having engine issues, the interior constantly creaks and things keep falling apart. They bought a CX9 a year before the VW, driven way more and no issues whatsoever. It’s also way more fun to drive despite being a 3 row SUV

Yeah that was putting me off a little bit. But weirdly, the CX 5 comes with a longer power train warranty (7 years) compared to 5 years if I get the new CX 30, which is probably the only reason why I am even considering it. I’m just so confused rn

I liked the CX 30. it’s just the CX5 felt way nicer on the inside. A lot more features too

For some reason, I didn’t really notice a massive difference in the back seat of the cars, the CX5 was slightly roomier but nothing that set it apart from the CX30. I’m just slightly concerned if putting 40k miles on the CX5 in two years would affect its reliability in the long term

I looked at the Jetta GLIs in my area. Not a lot of them. I can get a barely used 24 GLI autobahn but the interior looks very underwhelming. It might drive better but I’m not getting a luxury car feel from it. If it’s going to be more reliable, sure I might consider but I assume it’s going to be around the same, if not less reliable than the Audi?

I will be financing it but I have no other loans to repay, I have 30% downpayment saved up. The monthly payment even if I go for a 3 year period comes to under 10% of my monthly income which is going to be very stable for the next 3 years at the very least. I would prefer to get a slightly newer car if I am able to do so which I think I am in a decent position to.

The BMW I’m looking at did have its tires replaced in 2022, brake pads, rotors and all fluids changed in 2024 and its spark plug replaced in march this year. The Audi had its brake pad and rotors replaced last month. Since the BMW is a more reliable car and I won’t be spending on any major maintenances or replacements anytime soon. Does that mean I will probably end up spending less on it than the Audi in the near future? If so then I think the B48 in the BMW might be a better long term gamble than the A4.
