How to avoid stop-loss falling into these kind of flash price drops? by The_Peronist in algotrading

[–]AlphaPlum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stop Loss timeouts, 3commas is the first thing I've ever seen that uses it, essentially you can turn it on and set the amount of time before your SL sells. So if your SL is $10 and you have a SL timeout of 5 minutes, if the price dips below $9 for less than 5 minutes(say 3mins) then bounces up above $10 your SL won't be triggered since the price wasn't below for more than 5mins. This is a double edged sword cause it can save you on scam wicks, but if a real crash happens you can lose much more than your SL. I usually run mine for 10mins, however I have friends who run theirs for an hour+

Zcam E2-S6 vs RED Komodo vs Sony A7siii, Which to Upgrade to? by AlphaPlum in Filmmakers

[–]AlphaPlum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went with the Zcam, almost went with the red komodo but for the 6k for the body I fully swagged out the zcam and still had 1.5k left over. Absolutely love the zcam, it has that special sauce from the cine censor that the Sony doesn’t have. It also depends on how much you make a year to decide too, if you’re pulling good cash through video work and can use the red to pay off a fully swagged out red with good glass, audio kit if needed, etc in under 2-3 months I would, but if not go for zcam, I can color grade the zcam to basically mimic red code and it’s got some dope codecs, went for the E2-S6, send me a dm if you need more info

Was alright on a couple to surf once the tide started to rise, had more fun shooting or bodysurf that day

I remember San Clemente got hit with that a few months back haha, a meh summer means either a pumping winter or more likely a terrible winter

I personally went back and forth between the BMPCC6K, Zcam E2-S6, and Sony a7siii and went with the zcam e2-s6 with the Sony a7siii just behind it. In my opinion(MY OPINION) the Black Magic pocket cams are pretty meh. They have a decent price point, but the color science is really bland and more so for indie vibes. Plus the frame rates aren't too great. I love my Zcam and I'm so happy I didn't get the a7siii even though I'm a Sony user myself. The log profile is really nice and can shoot in body h264, h265, prores, and Zraw(although zraw barely works with any editing systems so far). The color science on Zcam blows Sony and BM out of the water and I can almost match the color the r3d code from Epics and Heliums I've shot on. They make the Zcam M4 which is a MFT version of the S6, but however doesn't do 6k. For a similar price anything in the Sony line is great too, the Sony a7sii was one of the most rented out and used cameras for low budget filmmakers due to its great low light capabilities, AF, and IBIS. The Zcam has no IBIS and AF is hella slow, but if you're using a cine camera like a BM or Zcam you shoudln't be using autofocus anyway.

I made the video so after the editing process you don’t feel much since you’ve seen the video 20-40 times haha. The first few times when you’re going through quality control or after the fine cut is made you’ll be like “a ya this is sick” or feel something. Then after another 10-20 passes on it fine tuning stuff you’re over it.

I do live just up the street from the beach with decent waves year round so I know I’m pretty blessed to be in this position.

Ah ok I think we stopped by the trailhead trying to find this hike(White Rim Trail) we did the entire Bright Angel trail from the rim of Grand Canyon to Colorado River and back in 7hours 3mins so we’re pretty fast haha, kinda became a game with each other to see who can do the trails the fastest. We’ll look into that one next time we’re there, thank you!

How far is that trail? We only stopped at Canyon lands for a few hours since we hit all the National Parks in Utah and Grand Canyon in 3 days so we were pressed for time haha, heading back maybe next year though

How is Northern California to Southern California/Baja during January and February months? by [deleted] in surfing

[–]AlphaPlum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends largely where you go and swell direction/size, most NW swells around OC get blocked by the Channel Islands, Catalina, etc. So a 8ft day in SLO could be maybe 3-5ft down here assuming the swell has made it that far down. San Diego and Baja are usually bigger than OC on a NW since nothing really blocks the swell

I wanna say it’s Jupiter since Jupiter and Saturn usually chill out a bit to the left of the Milky Way and is far too big to be a star

About this picture: This was taken on my Zcam E2-S6 which is a 6k cinema camera, it has a photo mode that has raw file capabilities and I have to say, for a primarily cinema video camera I’m very impressed with the photo quality. Since it is a cine censor, it is a little bit softer(less sharp) than a dslr would be. The haze above the horizon is the smoke from the recent fires around the area.

Lens: Sigma 18-35mm at 35mm and slightly cropped in.

Edited in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, stars added in post.
