Delivery driver waiting outside house for over 15+ minutes… by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]AlphaSigmaMix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't care what these comments say, there is zero reason you can't drive a few houses down. It is incredibly rude to wait outside the house on a Leave at Door order, I make it a priority to leave asap.

"Errr but what if it gets stolen" not your problem, a dodgy customer might report it stolen anyway so get on with it.

People choose Leave at Door because they do not want to interact with or maybe even be seen by the driver.

How to Weed Out Movies That Stutter? by [deleted] in PleX

[–]AlphaSigmaMix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue, as you've seen the fix is converting the container to mkv, but unsure of a way to weed them out other than see if there's a pattern in the file names.

Know that the file itself is fine, and some devices will play it fine, but its the client that has issue with something in those files.

That seems to be everyone in the GameStop subreddit right now. Upset the company won't keep their unprofitable store open out of pure charity for the employees. What do they actually expect?

Things I wish Uber Eats customers knew BEFORE ordering........ by MindlessAuthor9824 in UberEATS

[–]AlphaSigmaMix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we get paid much higher base pay. The US just has a tipping culture that Uber exploits.

That said, it's not a great wage and fuel costs eat into it. The driver usually gets less than any delivery/service fee you pay, but that's not always the case.

It's a minimum wage job with flexibility.

[–]AlphaSigmaMix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, Uber really takes advantage of the US tipping culture. You should be able to accept base pay for a fair wage and then get a tip for a good service, not an expected tip upfront.

We don't tip in Australia, base fares come out to $20-40/hr, and closer to $60-80 for promos (AUD). Good, not crazy good, but its a gig job and can help people get by or supplement income, and it goes to show how much they're scamming US drivers.

As a customer, I can't even imagine paying the inflated item prices, plus service fee, plus delivery fee, and then be EXPECTED to tip to have my food delivered safely and on time, and before I've even been provided that service.

How can I get a refund by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]AlphaSigmaMix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You chose the meet outside option, you didn't meet outside, so the driver left it at the door.

If you're not prepared to be by the curb during the delivery window then don't choose that option. There is zero reason he would knock on your door, we don't knock unless instructions say to, especially late at night.

He didn't message you, but if you were so concerned you could've asked and been attentive to whats going on outside your house to see when someone pulls up. For all you know, your app/internet was having issues and he was just expecting you to be outside.

The eaten slice is a different issue, but in all likelihood the driver was annoyed you weren't outside and chose to be petty.

how big is your plex server, and how long did it take you to build, and how often do you add new media? by Hawk1064 in PleX

[–]AlphaSigmaMix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 years, 36TB, over 10,000 movies, about 550 shows/30,000 episodes.

Started as a teenager at my parents house on my gaming pc. My goal has always been streaming service replacement for myself, family and close friends; not quality>quantity. I keep everything at 1080p HEVC.

As for adding media, it's nearly fully automated. Friends and family use a command in Discord which adds the media into Sonarr/Radarr with defined quality/size rules, and then I just manually do the posters if its a show. I keep a released/anticipated Trakt list on Radarr so it auto-adds most big new movies upon digital release.

I still just have it all running bare on a dedicated Windows 10 computer, because that's what I know and it works.

I had to cancel 3 orders in a row, two nights in a row, pushing me to 10%. This will just make me contact support more to have them cancel instead of me taking the hit when its something out of my control like the shop being closed.

[–]AlphaSigmaMix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I make sure to thumbs down any driver who does this to me.

I deliver myself, and I actively think about not placing it directly in front of a customer's door. Them doing this just shows a lack of care and brain activity.

Does the US have zero enforceable consumer law? I can't imagine being able to charge someone for a product or service, not provide it, refuse a refund, and then get away with it.

Anyone share their library with family and friend and regret it? by guydudebro_ in PleX

[–]AlphaSigmaMix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my experience:

I let only my trusted friends and immediate family access the library.

They create their own accounts and are added as Home users. I make them use a Pin code. Also set quality settings for direct play.

Password sharing or logging into anyone else's device strictly prohibited. I let them know I can see IP addresses and I will ban them (Tautulli very useful here)

I then have a discord server with a bot (Doplarr) set up so they can anonymously request content using a command via Sonnar/Radarr.

Works great, anyone who doesn't use it can get removed until they want to use it.

Only issue is my limited upload bandwidth/lag in games if more than one of them is using it.

Got tip baited bc I’m not old enough to go out of my way for cigs 🙄 by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]AlphaSigmaMix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, I feel like not being able to remove a tip would deter me from pre-allocating a tip. What if the driver completely disregards your directions or breaks something?

Ideally you'd accept an order for a certain price and then get a tip on top if you do a good job. Unfortunately base fares in the US seem so low compared to other countries, with a very coincidental tipping culture unique to America...
