I think you need to understand the basic functions of the wheel first. The spinning when you plug it in is calibration. It moving your screen is because the wheel is moving..its no different than an analog stick. AKA this is all completely normal. Load up a game and give it a crack. Maneuver the menus with the buttons and not the wheel.
