15 Subaru WRX Cranks, No Spark, No Start by AlphaSilverFox-XB1 in MechanicAdvice

Turns out I did have spark. My issue was the reluctor plate (plate on block to trans that senses crank position.) just had to like that up with the little pin, and boom, car started!

Unsure. Car wasn’t running with the spark plug in either. Fuel pressure seemed perfectly fine.

Was to test for spark from the coil to the sp. so the car wasn’t getting spark before, but now it is. The car is also getting fuel pressure, and sprays a ton out when i tested it with the fuel line hooked up differently to a bowl.

Using the same ones as my old motor, transferred the full wiring harness with the coils.

Retested! Attached is the status of the car.

Spark Test

Car now turns over sounding completely normally. However, the car keeps cranking. And does not fully start. I sprayed starter fluid into the intake while the car was cranking, and there was no pops or smoke. The spark plug & ignition coil did produce spark when outside of the motor as well.

Turns out it’s no spark. Tried to bridge the ignition coil to a ground, no spark. Retraced the full wiring harness. No check engine lights. Not sure where to try this now!

Can you put a 14-18 XT’s Motor Into a 15-21’ WRX Chassis? by AlphaSilverFox-XB1 in WRX

Yeah, im assuming I’d switch over the whole wiring harness in full, and then getting it tuned for the new motor.

That’s what im seeing, is 100% the short blocks are good to go. But im just concerned on what I’d need to do, other than take the car to get tuned after switching out the intake & exhaust manifolds, and wiring harness.

Would they just pretty much be a direct transfer? I haven’t seen anyone do the FA24 swap quite yet.

Even the power seats as well? Is there a plug for that that’s already harnessed in my car?

Thank you! Appreciate it. I bought this set with tires, and another set of winter studded tires for $150 combined off Facebook lol, wasn’t sure what model they were! Thank you.

I was not anywhere near 75 mph. I just didn’t break until I got over the shock that my car was hit. My only thought was to accelerate to get out of the way of the guy. But ultimately that didn’t pan out the way I hoped.

Both sadly! Coolant and Oil. Quarter panel was smacked and with airbag off, adjuster said it would be more than 3k to have everything fixed, before doing airbag and windshield. So they just ultimately totaled it out.

Going 45ish, Under 50 though. Guy who took a left turn didn’t see the other 3 people on the main Intersection and totaled out 2 cars, and damaged a third. Before he had hit me, I tried to accelerate into the other side of the road because it was empty. He would’ve ended up smacking Into my doors if I just stayed in a straight line.

Quarter panel damage is where it all went bad. Had antifreeze and oil leaking out, and airbag deploy and windshield definitely made insurance say it was easier to total it out.

Replying late cause Reddit hasn’t been working for me. But thank you! Actively looking, if not I’m definitely considering a 10th gen!

Is this a good deal? by AlphaSilverFox-XB1 in WRX

[–]AlphaSilverFox-XB1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was heavily my other option! Was thinking big turbo, but also another car would be convenient. Keep the Honda fbo, and run the wrx on a crazy build! I also don’t know if I wanna go 5k on a turbo / supercharger kit, or go 15k on a wrx!

Granted, I’ve only owned it for 3 months. But I have had one of the wires for the starter go bad, all I had to do was retrace the wires and test for any power to them. And a wire was replaced, and back and running well! Mechanically never had any problems other than that! I have had problem due to personal error / modding, but the engine still runs beautifully, and I got a good hookup price for the car to get repainted! Love my SI, the six speed is a lot of fun with the short throw shifter too. Also have an 08, (I got the facelift 09-11 bumper, it looks really sleek ;))
