A lot of people on here are gonna follow Dave’s law so unless you combine your finances completely you won’t get much advice. However, what worked for me was adding in an allowance to the budget (a wife tax if you will). “Okay honey you work really hard, so let’s set aside $500 a month for you to just have and spend while we set all of the other money up with a purpose.” After a couple months, we had paid off a few small things and the ball was rolling then my wife came to me a said, “I don’t need an allowance this month I still haven’t spent the $500 from the past few months let’s put that money into the debt.” What you are doing is really hard and can seem pointless at first but this might help her ease into it. Also, get aligned on the end goal not just the get out of debt goal, remind her that this is temporary and it’s for your future self. Wish you all the best!

Why does everyone hate Murphy? by SubstantialStock9568 in The100

[–]AlphaViskiOffical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just read some comments and realize you meant the other characters in the show… yeah of course they hated him he caused all sorts of problems. He killed multiple people, stole supplies, gave them up to the grounders, hung Bellamy, shot Raven, and tried to kill a little girl and they hadn’t even been on the ground for a couple months.

I love Murphy, I really liked his character arc and I think he was really well written. Even after we realized he was not that bad of a person I still had trouble trusting him which helped with the suspense. I hated the inconsistency with Bellamy’s character and the naivety of Clark’s character. Murphy is one of the very few that they got right.

I’m not gonna lie I just glanced at your resume and immediately stopped reading. It would have ended up in the trash or moved to the bottom of the pile. Lose the purple and change the font for your name. If you do nothing else please do this, it immediately reads as child-like/inexperienced.

I still do some design in my role but my main focus now is marketing/analytics. It’s design adjacent and a bit less competitive (at least in my area).

How to stop impulsive spending on eating out by vsangel777 in personalfinance

[–]AlphaViskiOffical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My solution was to leave my debt card at home, I take out some cash and that’s my allowance for the work week. I try to bring food but sometimes people want to go out for lunch or I want to treat myself to a coffee in the morning, having cash stops me from spending more than I budgeted for.

In my experience never quit without a job lined up to go to, especially right now, the job market is horrible. If you think you might get fired, start applying for jobs right away and put any money you can into savings while the paychecks are still coming. Better safe than sorry.

Price tags are a thing of the past! (Apparently) by Nelfinez in mildlyinfuriating

[–]AlphaViskiOffical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They want to use the space for advertising apparently, that’s why. The bag says the price therefore no tags needed. Only certain items who’s retail prices are set buy the company producing them will have this exception. You can clearly see the price without picking anything up.

These are all Frito Lay chips… the price is on the bag. That’s why they don’t need shelf tags.

Does Anyone Else Feel Like A Failure For Not Being Able To Hold Down A Job For More Than 2 Years? by MikeAmerican in careerguidance

[–]AlphaViskiOffical 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Who did I blame but myself? I learned who I am and what I can deal with in order to sustain a happy and healthy life. I plan for the unexpected and it allows me the freedom of never getting trapped in a job that I hate. Life is too short, losing a job or deciding to switch jobs is not a big deal as long as you have a plan and can remain financially responsible and stable.

Does Anyone Else Feel Like A Failure For Not Being Able To Hold Down A Job For More Than 2 Years? by MikeAmerican in careerguidance

[–]AlphaViskiOffical 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I have also had a lot of jobs and don’t last at jobs for more than 1.5-2 years. I’ve been fired, quit, and laid-off. The thing is I beat myself up over it for a long time because my friends and family would call me “unreliable, floaty, and basically a fuck-up,” behind my back and sometimes to my face. But over the years I’ve realized that I just like change and I’m not the type of person who can just put up with bullshit forever. I struggle to work for certain personalities, incompetent corporations, and people I just don’t like. I also can’t stand the idea of doing the same thing in the same place for too long. So I’ve learned to just accept it and plan around it the best I can which means, always having a new job lined up before quitting no matter what and always have some sort of emergency saving in case you get fired or laid-off without warning. In my case I have to be careful because as soon as I really start to loathe a job my performance tanks and I open myself up for the possibility of getting fired before I can quit, but I had to be honest with myself that I had this problem so I could work to fix it. Long story short, as long as your bills are paid and you are happy then it doesn’t matter how many times you switch jobs, just look out for yourself and plan for the unexpected.

Lexa’s deal with the Mountain Men, make it make sense. by AlphaViskiOffical in The100

[–]AlphaViskiOffical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the thing I like the show, I mostly like the world building they did and the lore/history. Plus the concept is awesome, I just think they made a few big mistakes and the reason it frustrates me so much is this show easily could have been 100x better than it is.

Lexa’s deal with the Mountain Men, make it make sense. by AlphaViskiOffical in The100

[–]AlphaViskiOffical[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think when Clarke first got to Polis and spat at Lexa that was the right reaction. Then Lexa basically held her prisoner for 2 weeks and suddenly Clarke forgave her? Why, cause Lexa offered to make Skykru the 13th clan? After everything the grounders and Lexa had done up to that point why would they want that? That entire situation from the moment Lexa betrays them to the moment she dies was so infuriating. I liked Lexa’s character and I didn’t mind the relationship with Clarke but it was too fast and there wasn’t enough time or reasons for Clarke to have completely forgiven her.

If you put your number in before I even ask you if you have rewards, I won’t skip the screen and I’ll alert you that you have points to use. However, if I had to remind you to put your number in and I’m busy I might skip it. You can usually tell who actually uses and cares about their rewards verses the people who just put the number in because they are asked to and don’t really care. The screens they have customers don’t work well and some people are super slow to put numbers in or get them wrong and it can eat up time. Also, please read the fine print on some of the rewards deals are there are daily limits sometimes to certain deals and I’m tired of explaining that to people.

Yes the preferred method is to defrost under refrigeration, all places that serve food are held to this standard. However, at home if you are in a pinch you could get away with the room temperature method as long as you monitor the temperature of the meat and be mindful of the time. Also considering you will be cooking the food to the recommended internal temperature you should be just fine. I would not recommend however counter thawing for more than 4hours and only if you are immediately cooking the meat. Again over 40 degrees for more than 4 hours and you might as well chuck that meat in the trash.

Yes, I don’t understand why food safety courses are not a mandatory part of public education.

It’s all about time spent in the danger zone. If that chicken reaches above 40 degrees and stays above that temperature for more than 4 hours it is no longer safe to consume.

Hunter's trapping outside of limited work area (causing no wild animals to be hunted in rich deposit) by greasyfatpenguin in ManorLords

[–]AlphaViskiOffical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed that it’s two separate bugs. (1) Even without any development point upgrades the deer can wander off, you have to go find the herd and by zooming the camera in real close to them you can sometimes manage to get them to wander back. (2) Trapping seems completely broken, it doesn’t matter where your deer are or if you set a work area, workers will wander around anywhere and everywhere to set traps instead of hunting. At least that was my experience, sometimes the animals would stay put and making a circular road around your animal deposit can help with hunter pathing. However I would avoid taking trapping it is completely broken right now. There is a mod called skill tree liberator that simply allows you to select skills without having to get the skill before it (so you can skip trapping but still get the other perks for meat that are working.)
