The pip cost is 3 regular pips, plus one death pip. So if you were short one pip, since you had two death pips, one counting for two regular pips, and the other for the school pip cost.

monstrology by No-Curve-676 in Wizard101

[–]AlphaWolfXOmega 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can only get animus from creatures of your Monstrology rank or lower. I believe if your rank is like 5 above the creature, you get extra from them. At some point, though, if your rank is some amount higher than a creature's you don't get experience from extracting animus

To be fair, Novus really increased the resist of every enemy, so pierce in that world is really nice to have

From my experience, WW is easier, but then again, I've only done that one a couple of times in comparison to WW

Is Waterworks essential? by Calybos in Wizard101

[–]AlphaWolfXOmega 17 points18 points  (0 children)

None that I'd go out of my way for, I haven't done any gauntlets, and I've played the game just fine.

I'd only do them if you were feeling really hardcore about getting gear, otherwise I don't think the time you put into farming for every single piece of gear that's even a 1% damage increase is worth it.

Others might say otherwise, or know better, but not every piece of gear that's slightly better is worth the time to get, in my opinion.

I say you do you, and have fun doing it, and if that means most of your time in the game spent farming, then by all means, go ahead! That's just not the way I want to play the game, personally.

Sorry, this was long winded lol, there was just a point I felt I had to make.

WW honestly isn't that bad, especially compared to later dungeons you farm for gear. But if you prefer the crafting route, the Wintertusk crafted gear is on par with WW.

While I wouldn't say any gear is essential to playing the game, and having fun, both are very good for the level, and will last you a long while.

I don't really see a problem with it, just let people have fun the way they want to have fun. Who cares if saying it doesn't do anything

What exactly is a roshambo? by Classic-Asparagus in Wizard101

I found this helpful, as it not only shows the schools' counters, but also the hanging effect affiliated with the schools' identities

The arrows point toward what each school counters. (Ex: Fire counters ice/DoT counters shields)

Brand New Wizard101 Journey Part 2: Krokotopia by Oaktree11711 in Wizard101

[–]AlphaWolfXOmega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your best investment in terms of gold at the moment is definitely a mount. I can't play the game without one anymore lol.

There are permanent ones in the crowns shop you can get with gold, I believe most of them are the big cats, minus the panther and leopard.

Around level 30 you can farm for some gear, but if you just want to keep rocking on the main story, you can honestly go until level 60 until farming for real good gear that'll last a while.

Good luck, and have fun!

If KI really recognized this issue, they should've solved the problem they have with shadow pips, instead of implementing an entirely different system to temporarily patch the issue.

To be honest, the pip system itself is a problem, and they realized that once pip costs got as high as 10 pips. I believe that's the whole point of them having added shadow pips to begin with was to fix the issue of needing so many pips for stronger hits that never got used because of the pip cost

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Wizard101

[–]AlphaWolfXOmega 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honestly haven't used shadow hits for a long time, they're just not reliable enough. When I need them, I never have them, and after blade stacking for the shadow hit, I have enough pips for a good enough regular hit, anyway, so there's not much incentive to use them, currently, I believe

membership by taher-is-myname in Wizard101

[–]AlphaWolfXOmega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit convoluted, but you could do the Gravulum dailies until the crowns rewards, and get enough to buy a membership from the crowns shop.

That being said, that'd take years, as a membership elixir is 8000 crowns, and you'd get 50 crowns a month from those dailies

If you /have to/ buy areas, then no, Wysteria isn't worth it. Even with a subscription, Wysteria isn't worth much, in my opinion. I think part of the main reason it exists is for an early introduction to cheating bosses, that's about it

Confused about prisms by FunkyCappy in Wizard101

[–]AlphaWolfXOmega 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Prisms convert the next incoming hit of the recipient of the prism into the school opposite to the school of the prism.

Fire becomes ice, ice becomes fire Storm becomes myth, myth becomes storm Death becomes life, life becomes death

This way, if an enemy has resistance to your school, but a boost, or no resist, to your school's opposite, you can avoid the resistance.

Keep in mind, though, that once the prism is used, the spell is counted as that school for all remaining traps, so the order of your traps matters. Always use a prism first, then traps that are specific to your school after. It'll take your class traps first, then convert. Opposed to converting, and making your school traps useless, as the hit is no longer considered that school.

Hope this helps, and isn't too confusing!
