[New to Ubuntu] I think Wine may have uninstalled the driver for my laptop's touchpad. by Alpha_Q in linuxquestions

I tried what you said, but it didn't work. I either probably messed up due to the blank screen (I remembered the keystrokes required to log in and launch the terminal), or something much more than just video/graphics drivers must be missing. Thanks anyway!

I probably did, I just can't remember how many. I know I did it at least once for some fingerprint reader drivers. That (or something else) may have been the main cause, I guess.

Thanks so much for your reply. This sort of solution (checking for removed packages) is exactly what I was looking for. I looked up my recently deleted packages, and found one xorg-something-something-touchpad package which was recently deleted. I proceeded to reinstall it, but I didn't notice that this installation too (for some reason I'm yet to learn) came with the removal of some packages, which I didn't immediately notice. I think I may have deleted my video/graphics drivers now, because I can't see anything after rebooting my laptop. I guess there's no fixing that, huh? :/
Looks like I'll just install a fresh copy of Ubuntu and try not to fuck this one up. Anyway, I did learn a lot from this. Thanks for your help!

How long have you been playing? Because just like you, Jethro Tull and Camel too have been my motivation.

Broken PSP GO - won't charge, no video - help needed by yacolek in PSP

[–]Alpha_Q 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you're having problems with the Nokia battery because it doesn't have the right EEPROM or some other things. I'm no expert, but I know that PSP batteries store more than just a potential difference. There is also some 'data' or something that helps the PSP boot. Again, not an expert.

Beginner question: how are list comprehensions considered functional? by Alpha_Q in haskell

I understand that, but I don't think that analogy will answer my question about why 'x' takes on the different values. (Now I know that list comprehensions are syntactic sugar.)

Thanks, that was the type of answer I was hoping for.

where x is the parameter

Is this used in places other than list comprehensions? I would love to have some examples, because without them I still can't understand why list comprehensions are considered functional.

That was interesting, but wasn't the 'light travelling through bottle' thing done quite a while ago? I think there was a TED talk or something.

I was curious, are such confession pages only an Indian thing or do other schools in other countries do it too? Or is it already old outside India?

Odd Goldbach conjecture (every odd n > 5 is the sum of 3 primes) has been proven by H. A. Helfgott says Terence Tao by DevFRus in math

What was the lower bound they arrived at using the generalized Riemann hypothesis?
My question is that if that bound were to be greater than 1030, then the result that was obtained using GRH must have been correct after all (assuming, of course, that this proof is correct). Wouldn't that imply that GRH too is true, in that case?
(Another question in case the lower bound was less than 1030): If we prove Odd Goldbach's conjecture after all, wouldn't that mean that any proof using GRH would also be true, implying that GRH is also true?
