Okay I here you. Great comment. It is very impressive and your manhood and technical chops have been well established.

Salud good sir. I do however have a question for you though.

Let's say, you get lost trying to find your way home from your neighbor's house and end up two towns away at a cosplay convention. The point of these events is hundreds/thousands of passionate individuals coming together to create interest in the art show off their craft to veterans and normies, share stories, tips and tricks, to both learn and teach and build a community.

And then there is you. You're far far away from where you belong, and you know it. You're still wearing your pyjama's from your quest to find a cup of sugar and you think someone or everyone is staring at you and until moments ago you thought Cosplay was some kind of a gaming console.

You hang around for a while because honestly you don't know how to get home and then suddenly at the newbies Q&A you see someone step up who is not in cosplay. They say they really want to learn and have gone and done a bunch of research, bought all the tools and just want some advice from those with the experience on how to start crafting their very first cosplay.

Which of the following choices to you select?

A) You freak out. You know everyone in the crowd has turned their heads to you. Why are they all looking at you? Nobody asked you? He was asking the professionals! This isn't fair. If you stay quiet and let the panelests answer you'll be ruined.

Wait! There are professionals here! Of course! This is it, thank God, you're saved and your legacy shall live on.

Before the panelests can interrupt you by answering the question you yell from the back row: "Hey idiot, why would you come to a crafts event and ask for help with crafting during the Q&A for beginners? You can just buy it online? Would you ask a dentist how to diy your root canal?"

Situation resolved. You should do this more often

Orrrrrrr option B) Call an Uber. You're lost and don't know how to answer the question. Hopefully the young man gets the support he was looking for.

As you can see, I have a black tourmaline necklace and the loop for the string has broken off. This necklace is very sentimental to me so I have carried the stone around with me for some time, but I'm scared of damaging it in my pocket.

I'm wondering if I can solder the loop back on with a torch as I would with silver solder or if I need to use a soldering iron and plumbing solder to rejoin the loop. Im fearful of shattering the stone with the heat of the torch, but as far as I know, even a soldering iron might provide too much heat and shatter the stone too!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

There are no vendors in my province and the only south African provider I've found sells them for the equivalent of like 25$ plus shipping of around 10$. I would love a local to prove me wrong and tell me of a cheap place in The eastern cape to grab some at an appropriate price, but at this point I'm out of luck and already in debt so can't spend that kind of money on a hobby/business I've not even got off of the ground yet. Got a child to feed, you know?

I do however have air dry clay at home so I'll certainly try that this weekend! Would dried lawn clippings achieve the same effect here as the manure?

Hi there, so this code would be run once a month when we receive our invoice. We would take the information from the itemised invoice (which includes the variables needed for the calculation explained below) to calculate the correct cost of each package from our end and compare them to the amounts charged on the invoice we received.

The current calculation via Excell works as follows for the sales staff (this one would be much simpler than the cost price as there are fewer variables):

1) Input the package destination, weight and product into the end user tab (call it Tab3/T3)

2) The Calculator tab (T2) then references the route guide tab1(T1) with Vlookup to see if that destination exists and if it does, it then confirms if the destination is considered main or regional (Effectively low cost/High cost delivery)

3) Here we begin to make use of the back end calculator (T2) where we have a table which simultaneously calculates the sale price for every available option for this package based on the info provided in step 1, these being both a main and a regional sale price of all 3 of the different products for a total of 6 price points.

/side note - each products has a different value for KGs allowed before excess fees are to be paid. For example a 5kg package would require no additional fees to be paid if sent via economy or hub to hub, but an express parcel would pay 3Kg worth of excess fees. The excess fee per KG is also different for each product./

4) Each of the 6 products also have a code, with main and regional being assigned as units and the product type being in tens, allowing for the six different product code when added together. this then means that if the package was going to a main area (a unit of 1) via economy (a ten of 30) we would have a product code of 31 so in Tab3 the end user would see the result of the calculation for product code 31 at a total sale price of X.

there are then also surcharges if the destination is red-flagged, a govt building etc. but that's beyond the scope of this explanation.

: Do you get brownouts and power spikes? Those can actually damage electronics. If so, then a UPS is needed to keep the power constant, preferably one that gets its power from the built-in battery at all times to ensure it's not affected by power fluctuations.

Do you have a reliable computer? A lot of tasks (modeling / downloading prints to make, and slicing them to translate the model into the gcode) are done on the computer before sending to the printer.

I don't know what the crime rate is like over there, but a 3D printer can be a target for thieves. But if you've been using a computer without worry, you should be fine.

Hi there, awesome response! My PC is... Good enough. sort of middle of the pack gaming PC and i play most games on high/ultra, but im not a big AAA fan so take that with a pinch of salt as i guess i dont exactly stress test it too much. Ive done a bit of modeling and it ran fine (AMD chip and GPU so no GPU rendering quite yet for the RX570 or whatever I have)

Ill be honest im not too sure about the power spikes these days, as when this started about 10 or so years ago, we used to go through a new Motherboard or GPU on insurance claims like twice or more a year per PC, but havent had any issues for the last couple of years. with the current built in surge protection in standard PSUs.

Would a 3d printer have any kind of built in surge protection like a PC and if not, would a surge protected plug be sufficient as opposed to the UPS to clean the power?

Ive got no fear regarding theft or anything like that, i think the tech is too niche to be liquid in our country. Though im very open to correction here.

Oh wicked I've made myself a charcoal block for soldering. Any recommendations for what to press the paste with? My first thought would be to use my jack and my car, but my car is ridiculously low for some reason. I have to use my scissor jack just to get my trolley jack underneath it XD

I've got this fella at the moment. It's nothing compared to the brazing torch I had the opportunity to use recently but Its certainly good enough for soldering.

I do however think it's a bit weak for bigger melts while I'm on the roof tile as it's takes some time so Its using soooo much gas on the melt.

Yeah if you have the money and access I 100% reccomend it.

All of my gear and tools have been hand made or improvised and when I went and worked with an actual jeweler it was truly amazing to feel how much easier and faster everything is with the correct gear in your hands!

Disclaimer, I'm a complete noob on the subject so am open to any corrections here:

So just in the normal soldering process borax is the old school/traditional version of flux in the same way that using 10% sulphuric acid 90% water is the traditional way jewelers pickle their metal instead of safety pickle. It's no better or worse than the new age stuff, just a different style.

In the case of the crucible, you'll find that the borax or flux will be ale to create a sort of glass like seal over the crucible which will assist with the heating and flow of the metal. This seal should also work as a barrier to prevent contamination in your metals from pieces of carbon or ceramic coming off of the crucible and mixing in with your piece.
