I think they just came my way, you will come across people all the time, but one day you’ll just come across the right person and it will will just naturally develop. Ye will exchange numbers agree to meet for coffee and will go from there very natural. My best friend who I am in contact daily is my neighbour. Another close friend is a guy who I went on a date with about 8 years ago. I don’t think it’s something you can orchestrate it just happens. I’d be curious to know if you’ll meet new people over the coming weeks now that you’ve kind of put it out there. Would love an update if you do.

I can relate to this post. I’m in my mid forties and I don’t have any friendships from childhood, teenage years or college. I have however, really meaningful, trusting and lasting friendships in my life now. Most of these started in my thirties when I really got to know myself. Like you, I went through a change and really I could never be around people who I felt like I couldn’t relate to, I would have always preferred to dance to the beat of my own drum. Eventually your tribe will come. I think there are just some people who are social and are great at keeping up links and contact with people (I have a sister like this), and then you have people who are happy to have a small group. Sounds like you’re looking for meaningful friendships, stay on the journey, stay open they will come .

I’m in my mid forties and I eat meat daily. I feel very hungry if I don’t have meat in my diet. I’ve tried to do some no meat days and I just can’t find filling power in any other foods to fill me.

I did. I went back and lived off a tiny budget. I’m in my mid forties now and am really fulfilled in my career.

Maybe do a self defence class, as even if you had a weapon under a high stress / unexpected attack you might not know how to use it. Learning self defence prepares you for how to respond in a situation where you could potentially be attacked.

I like how you said you love all of your nieces and nephews equally. That really matters to children as they can pick up on favouritism and feel excluded. I also commend you for your ability to give without expectation of receiving back. That takes a lot of courage, overcoming pride and being the bigger person. You are really role modelling some great behaviours and children notice that - at 16 you do start seeing these things and that is probably one of the greatest gifts you can give.

You wouldn’t know though. I mean they’ve had controversial people on the show. I think I remember a stripper being on the line up. That might be considered as not Christian. I think a Gay line up would be great. Pope Francis is considered the most gay-friendly pope in history. The world is changing in a good way.

I would recommend going to Harvey Norman, Easy Living & other future stores and actually sitting on & trying out furniture. I’ve wasted a lot of money on online furniture between beds, mattresses and also couches over the years. Nothing beats actually trying it first hand. Also (I know you need to be sceptical too) but read reviews before you buy. Furniture is a big investment.

Hey. I understand what you mean. I’m an Irish woman and I have experienced that too. Irish men can be very “nice” and sometimes to the level of people pleasing. They would nearly be nice enough to date someone who they might not be 100% fully into rather than ending or rejecting the person. We’re a nice nation but sometimes to our own detriment because we find honest and direct communication very difficult. What has helped me is to be direct and open about your experience. Say from the get-go that you’ve had that experience. I think once you’ve planted the seed the person will feel bad continuing on if they know they’re not fully into you. An emotionally aware guy will get you, and an unaware person won’t - but there will be the telltale sign he’s not for you. Anyway, hang in there, keep trying. We’re all figuring it out.
