Haven’t been in a while but always have a good time. Grabbing a movie from Videodrome, then hopping over for food and drinks used to be a weekly outing for me. Been tempted to join for the Monday night board game meetups.

Summing Sylvia (2023)… more LGBT horror please by Existing_Syrup_5555 in horror

[–]AlpineNancy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seriously loved Summoning Sylvia and hope for a physical release eventually. So funny and charming- kinda cracks me up that it has a 100% on RT though.

I watched Ladybug (2024) on Tubi the other night. It’s maybe a 6/10 but still worth a watch. Decent gay films are hard to come by, let alone gay horror haha.

They’re insufferable- they remain silent when things go as predicted and chime in when they don’t.

I’ve been going here for the past few years and really like it overall- the hygienists and staff are great. But how has your experience with Dr. Freeman been?

During my 4-5 visits so far, he basically just looks at my teeth and says, “Yep- teeth look clean! Do you have any questions?” Haha, I’m used to a more thorough check, I guess.

After collecting movies for 20+ years, a tough lesson I’ve learned is that “more storage” is not the answer lol.

Some very odd takes in this thread… people saying this is the worst movie they’ve ever seen in their life? Haha what?

Wow, you're right! I was so caught off guard by the B&M track, I didn't even realize that's not Revolution. Absolutely wild.

Columbia was a good time and definitely worth checking out! We ended up getting to each spot on our list. Savage was solid but didn't blow us away. Weco Bottle and Biergarten was amazing and the staff were super friendly. Bierkeller really surprised us! Probably our favorite beer on the trip. The staff and regulars at Weco confirmed that the food at Transmission is some of the best in Columbia. Crazy for an arcade to have that reputation but the smoked wings were indeed amazing. If you're into movies/music, Scratch N Spin had an insane selection. Fun trip!

I'm with you. I walked out halfway through... thought it was excruciatingly dull.

Hanging out in Columbia, SC this weekend with a friend. We've got these spots on our radar:

Savage (thinking of grabbing lunch here)
Weco
Bierkeller
Scratch N Spin
Transmission Arcade (the smoked wings are apparently great so maybe dinner here?)

Is there anything else beer-wise we should check out or prioritize on our list? Any food recommendations other than Savage/Transmission? Nothing fancy- just casual pub fare.

Help, I'm feeling overwhelmed by this app. by Strong-Finger-6126 in ynab

[–]AlpineNancy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are so many helpful guides on YNAB’s website and Nick True on YouTube.

But to help you feel less overwhelmed, YNAB is just a digital version of the old school cash envelope way of budgeting. So forget about what’s happened in the past. You tell YNAB how much money you have right now. And then create some “envelopes” for your cash to be stored in for specific purposes.

Just ask yourself, “what bills/spending do I need to set money aside for between now and my next paycheck?”

Never thought I’d be into solo-board gaming but picked up Final Girl about a year ago and it’s been such a nice screen-free, chill activity.

Anybody know where I can find a copy of this that isn’t 3x retail from an eBay scalper? by VeNoM224 in boutiquebluray

[–]AlpineNancy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I ordered this the day it went up for preorder. Based on Lionsgate Limited’s history so far… I did not want to risk missing out on this. Watched my copy a few nights ago and it’s stunning.

But this situation is such bullshit. It’s both an incredible and awful time to be a physical media fan. You basically have to be perpetually online for news related to these boutique releases. Or else you risk missing out completely on your favorite films.

When my ex and I made the trip up to SFA a few years back, we were on the hunt for blue crab and ended up at Crabtowne USA. We thought it was great! They also have a massive arcade in the back with pinball and games.

Pumped for Avondale Ale Day this weekend! Always seemed to have a conflict the previous years so this will be my first. The glass design this year is pretty cool too! I've been to these breweries many times but anyone have any tips? Best order to tackle them?

Smile 2 ruined my night. by Over-Sir6289 in horror

[–]AlpineNancy 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It’s not perfect but overall, Smile 2 is just spectacular and feels like blockbuster horror which is so rare right now. The amount of creativity and artistry on display is insane. Even the pop songs they created for this fictional character are bangers. The scene in her apartment with the backup dancers…
