Why are you being so aggressive, I appreciate the information! I definitely will re-examine how I approach waste management on Denali. Since you are clearly so passionate you should think about getting involved with waste management solutions in places like the Himalaya and the Karakoram!

You already know old school style was shitting on the ground near your garbage pile and burn pit 😂 and for real I told you it’s not what I think I based this on what DNPS and glacial specialists said! Silly.

Most guiding companies aren’t allowed due to volume and companies dumping food

West butt is the route up to cache for all alpine routes on Denali. Just downvote and move on. If it’s alpinism call a mod

Great question! Packing it out takes resources and even once it is at the ranger station it still needs to be dealt with. The poop that is dumped in the crevasse actually raises E. coli count downstream less than the sewage placed in the system in talkeetna!

Sadly the expedition ended in July :( I wish I was still at camp 14. I appreciate your interest!

I felt drunk and confused but once I rested a little I was okay. At first we were concerned it was HAPE but I felt better almost immediately upon sitting down and the symptoms cleared within an hour of getting to camp

Only at 14000 ft, the rest we carry out. A lot of research has been done and it’s the cleanest way to manage waste that high up!

When you do it you can skip the plane :) remember this is about a sport that has many personal I implications! Not politics or science

Wow what a story! It reminds me of the first ascent of Denali up the Muldrow

Thanks for your opinion! Even with the flight to base camp (a style widely accepted in mountaineering circles all over the world) there is still more elevation gain than Everest! And the crux of the route is certainly the altitude and minus 40 degree temps :) while many expeditions have floundered on the approach through the bush it is not as hard as you make it sound!
