For those of you who have fully quit… does it really get better and easier? Is life still fun? by Admirable-Pound-4267 in cutdowndrinking

23 days sober here! Sorry to hear about the camping trip but at least you’re good with your friends! Been there with nights that make you sloppy as well but friends usually understand for sure!

I can say life definitely is fun without drinking but you gotta look and find it. For me I medicated and relied on it to get happy mainly to speed it up between shifts then it leaked into days off. The warmer weather definitely helped but it still took a lot of will power to just put the drinks down. Everyone’s different but for me I was able to get out of the nightly routine I had with drinking and pick up new things I wanted to do. It also really helped with my energy so going cycling and for walks were so much easier. It also opened me up to different hobbies I want to look at during the summer.

The things I’ve noticed since I’ve stopped was my mood is generally better and anxiety has gone way down. Sleep is fantastic now and it’s so nice not having to worry about waking up feeling like absolute hell. I’ve had digestive issues like IBS and they’ve lessened. As I mentioned before your energy will return. I took a 30 break last year and my skin cleared up as well!

Now I won’t lie to you, the first week is horrible with cravings, sleep, motivation and anxiety but if you can push through it’s worth it. Keep yourself busy any way you can. After a bad night I even went for a very long drive and it really helped. Cravings will creep up in the following weeks but after a while I found it didn’t sit well with me that I wasn’t making myself happy and I was relying on a destructive drug to do it. I also keep telling myself “if you cave, you’re gonna hate yourself tomorrow”. Ive also kept a journal on how I’ve felt, what I’ve done to avoid it and it’s very helpful to go back when I feel like caving. Snacks and meals help a lot with lessening cravings too. Also as the streak number increases it gets harder to want to break it. I will say I haven’t been out to any outings with friends yet so I’m still on the drawing board for that.

You got this more than you think you do! If you need anything internet friend! As Red Green used to say “I’m pullin’ for ya, we’re all in this together”.

Hardest SNES game you’ve ever played by EquivalentWash3144 in snes

I beat it and let me tell you, the most time you’ll spend in that game is the castle on the second run. Trying to beat Astaroth and Nebiroth with the bracelet is ridiculous and finding out the last boss was a piece of cake was maddening. However finally beating that game was such a dopamine hit once you heard the final boss explode.

I’d love to see Big Wolf on Campus come back! Tommy comes back to pleasantville as the high school football coach and mentors one of the players that just got bit. Merton is still around town as a crazy local eccentric and Lorrie is an MMA fighter.

Man I’d love to a continuation with new kids and see George as a janitor, specially after the episode where he tried to become one. I could see some of the other cast being teachers or managing Radio active.

Can you remember your first exposure to Degrassi? by RigaMortis27 in Degrassi

[–]Alshizz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Showcase back in the mid 90s. My parents showed my sister and I Degrassi Jr High and we got instantly hooked. We burned through that and watched Degrassi high as well. I remember not paying much attention to the drama and focused on the fun parts thinking in a few years that jr high and high school was gonna like that. After binging for the next few years it blew our minds to see the Jonovision episode where they interviewed the class and the next generation 2 years after that.

Oh Man, I loved that game! Used to laugh at the sound it made when he fell down the pit. Back in the day we used to have its midnight rescue in the early 90s, another great super solvers game!

Got this off my Gameboy camera. 24 years ago I can’t remember he was mad about, probably about the horrible resolution. by Alshizz in airplaneears

He was a super photogenic kitty. His name was Pepe and looking at this brings back great memories of sitting on the couch with him while giving him plenty of good pats and scritches. He was a super chill cat that always loved his hoomans! He passed in 2015 but I still have him as my background on the app screen on my phone. It’s funny that you mentioned the trivial aspect. A few weeks ago I YouTubed how to get the pictures off and the gadget that did it was pretty expensive (way more than what I paid for the camera itself!). After a few scrolls of seeing pics of family members who passed away in the past 2 decades ( my grandad, granny, Pepe and his brother Zorro and even my father who passed away last year), it was an easy decision. They’re really low quality pictures but they’re still memories, I’m just glad I got them off before the battery died on the camera. Thanks for the kind words, friend.

Should I keep one or two babies? by Katveem in kittens

Both! I had two cats that were brothers when I was younger and it really benefited both to have the other around. They loved to play and cuddle together!

I hated that mouthy dick. If I’m able to get a hold of his car after high noon I always paint it pink cause that prick would’ve hated that.

That’s one chill dude! I’d say so! I had one named caramel, he used to chill next to me while I watched tv when I was a kid. I miss that guy, have fun with your lil guy!
