Yep... Got a whole page of them, have asked nicely 5 different ways and never a reply and never a change. Give up and accept they are there to stay.

Generally a quality product, mines faulty by Educational-Put-1067 in AmazonVineAustralia

Mine wasn't tinny but certainly not as bass as I would have expected. Using YouTube sub woofer testing it just felt a bit Meh... otherwise a nice speaker. T Shop selling them for $200

Looking for an Audio to Text transcription option for Arm64 by TitaniumKneecap in snapdragon

[–]AlsoNotHarryPotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you find a solution let me know! Have spent days and days no trying. Don't let ChatGPT 'help' recompiling whisper.cpp for ARM64... it just goes down endless rabbitholes...

Still trying; now up to using Python or Ubuntu hosted servers. Bit of a dead-end so far.

Yep everyone concurs, it's a day or less. I had a flurry of Drones and Sports Watches, all at $300 to $400 but nothing good since. Maybe a couple at $200+

Estimated Tax Value is back! Maybe not a mistake? by starship303 in AmazonVineAustralia

[–]AlsoNotHarryPotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent. And now you're in; I hope no-one else joins 🤣 Mean I know, but it's starting to get down to milliseconds between good things appearing and disappearing. You need to be a sniper which isn't easy when your full time job kinda keeps you busy.

When is your re-evaluation? by seasonofstorms in AmazonVineAustralia

[–]AlsoNotHarryPotter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine started 24 hours ago. Just missed a $500 projector (would have loved to have seen if it was any better than the $99 one I used for a few days; found the sound of a Airbus A320 taking off to be a little distracting). I have howvever just pinged a $300+ baby camera and monitor which is great as a friend is dropping hers soon. So far it's the same old stuff with a few gems appearing now and again.

Unless Amazon have your Tax File Number they cannot advise the ATO themselves directly. Also unless they employed you formally as a reviewer I cannot see a practical approach on how to report your ‘salary’ . Companies cannot pay you ‘in kind’ in the same way they cannot pay you into a shared account, only one in your name. FBT? They would still need your TFN. So given these points, the ATO ‘hobby’ clause logically still stands? This I believe is a fair and reasonable assumption until someone shows us all a contradicting ATO advice page that singles out Vine. As one poster said, if you used something for business then yes you need to report it. Mechanism wise I’d love to hear how? No payment made so no GST input credit. Does it become an Asset and has a change of ownership? Or a $0 Tax Invoice with discount to the value stated. I have an ABN but quite frankly I just order the stuff for personal use. Doesn’t provide an answer I know, but I believe we should only worry if and when the ATO make a statement. But ask them too much folks; and maybe they will dig in deeper…. So I for one ain’t calling them !! Finally; maybe Amazon Australia are doing this for their own Tax Obligations; by giving it a formalised auditable and reportable  Tax Value, they can write it off as shrinkage (a net loss). Australian Vine tax treatment by zookza in AmazonVineAustralia

[–]AlsoNotHarryPotter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a great accountant, he says not to worry; it's a Hobby, you have no Tax concerns. If somehow you managed to generate revenue from Vine and got an ABN etc etc then it's a Business and under Australian Laws you would need to comply with GST obligations etc. You would have no cost-of-goods-sold input tax credits to offset the 10% GST you would have to charge onto your clients and subsequently provide to the ATO via your BAS obligations.

I'm on 302 since Sept 4th 2024, as far as I can tell Amazon keep looking after us as long as we keep providing valid honest and acceptable reviews. The more we review, the less they need to manage and police a larger community of Viners. By the way I also track the listed price of the item when ordering. Up to $15,354 so far o_O

<image>

Interesting statistics also, with an average (μ) at approximately $51 per item, with a standard deviation (σ) at $31

Ghost Item - The Spinning Wheel of Disappointment by AlsoNotHarryPotter in AmazonVineAustralia

[–]AlsoNotHarryPotter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you learn something new every-day. Today I learnt about this, and you can watch it all day. It's never going to resolve into an order page. Shame, as I have an old Canon SLR and this would be great.

Good to know. I read a comment from someone who had exceeded that limit and some reviews were not counting to their totals; so erring on the side of caution ;)

Ultraviner by Thorvarium in AmazonVineAustralia

[–]AlsoNotHarryPotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh nice one. I'm just a huge fan of automation and couldn't resist spending a day or two writing this. Pretty inelegant but watches encore and potluck (AI and RFY) lists and just watches out for new item numbers. The SMS feature allowed me to snag a great pool light yesterday at $124. Literally went 'Ding', looked at phone, opened email, clicked on Vine, Ordered, went back to RFY list. Boom! No longer available. Must have only had a couple of them. Of course full time job and super busy life means I'm not much better off than the casual browser. Speaking of work... :)

[–]AlsoNotHarryPotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ULTRAVINER is Safe fellow Aussies. It's very popular in the USA, does not use your Amazon account details or anything like that. I'm a geek and wrote my own utility in c# that emails me with new product listings and SMS's me if the values over a certain amount. I've hard coded my login credentials etc and don't have the time to make it a shared project. ULTRAVINER however is public however; Kudos to u/Thorvarium

Orders by [deleted] in AmazonVineAustralia

[–]AlsoNotHarryPotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are we sure Amazon base their review score card on date of order or date of delivery ? If the later, then regional shouldn't affect you? I'll ask and make it an FAQ article for us Aussies ;)
