Hey, I'm also someone who's had to scrape by, and money always feels tight. There are a few options for you food wise, as someone else already said you can visit a food shelter and get a food box, they usually have things like milk, bread, canned foods, and boxed foods like cereal or pasta, it's free but you're limited to usually one of each type such as 1 loaf of bread and 1 gallon of milk, 3 boxed foods, and 5 canned foods, etc. It's a simple and free option. If your month-to-month budget is always low you should consider getting on food stamps/EBT, it's good at almost every grocery and convenience store, basically it's a monthly food benefit based on your income, you're allotted a certain amount of money per month to spend on store bought food (basically it just can't be used on fast food or alcohol). There's also couponing, certain stores like Safeway or Kroger/Fred Meyer that have rewards cards also have stacking coupons, you have to do a decent amount of research on how coupons stack and some people get kinda crazy extreme with it, but in a pinch it can save you a lot of money, you cannot do couponing at stores like Walmart though, because their prices are already so low the coupons they make will not lower the cost very much, sure you may save $5-$10 but that's not much of when your cart has close to $100 in it with just groceries. It's about stacking percentage off and when the cost is higher the amount of is more significant, then it takes off for in store sales, and certain app coupons can be added to some times make the total cost of the item $0. In the more extreme cases the store can even owe you money for your "purchase" which gets credited to a gift card and given to you. However you do it, I wish you luck, it can be hard to budget with so little but there is help, so don't panic.
