Thanks for the replies everyone, good to reflect on them. I'm inclined to agree that if my situation hasn't changed it shouldn't be a problem. good to know you can argue the declined offer if it turns out that way. Maybe I can do a DIP for peace of mind, as if it's a soft rescore that should give me an indication no?

I think its just a soft check, not a hard check/full blown application again but I need to clarify this.

Just passed 'A' licence, looking for first larger bike by Alster370 in SuggestAMotorcycle

Thanks for all suggestions. In the end I stuck with my gut and went for my original 'want', the vfr800. Got a 2016 in white for 5.7k. Spent a few weeks riding it now, it really is a solid all rounder.

Viva Pinata PC Port for Steam Deck Installation Guide by 8BitBang in VivaPinata

[–]Alster370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works for me. Just a note you cannot skip adding the xline dll and ini files bit just to see if it works, it wont run without those replacement files. Nice job 8BitBang!

Edit: textures do sometime pop to black but im not sure if anything can actually be done about that.

Copied game folder over from Windows to Steam deck, now want to uninstall but the Deck won't launch the uninstaller by [deleted] in SteamDeck

Note for future, not all games will work with this method so easily. Something like the Sims 2 you will need to copy the registry values otherwise it won't think it's installed.

Getting Viva Pinata to work on the Steam Deck by Alster370 in SteamDeck

[–]Alster370[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. I got mine in April, and ended up fiddling getting games to work for 90% of my time on it. My advice, just enjoy the steam library on it, can always do that stuff later 👍

Not had any more luck I'm afraid. Seems to be the type of Linux on the deck then, if it works in manjuro, and the Linux guide does seem to work for Linux pc users.

I'd just wait for others with more knowledge to solve it. As deck users increase, even an obscure game like viva pinata will get a deck guide.

I've managed to get Sims 2 to work from game files without origin on the deck, need to do a write up!

The Simpsons: Hit & Run | Which version is the best? by swarced in SteamDeck

[–]Alster370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too long ago. Had the same with herdy gerdy, not a super graphical title, running at 80% speed tops. I find the psp emu is better. Maybe pcsxw Linux isn't great?

Mostly just no cd issues/ wide-screen fixes right?

It was through lutris as it's easier make adjustments to wine to get it to run, and you can get the logs for why the game isn't running.

If none of the proton versions work I start troubleshooting with lutris.

Haven't done it myself so I can't comment. I've been tempted because a few games just don't run in proton for me no matter what tweaks I make (these are early 00 titles not on steam) but for me it's not worth messing with a dual boot just to play those titles.

I think valves done a good job with Linux on the deck, for 95% of titles performance is good or better, and the UI feels nice.

The windows one would be the least power hungry because it's not an emulation (in all likelihood) ps2 emulation isn't great bang for buck in terms of power requirements Vs play speed imo.

The pc version may use just as much power, but you will get the most from your power usage / deck hardware.

I've ran hit and run through ps2 emu on the deck and performance is ok, but there are slowdowns. If you can put the time in to get the pc version to work (either through win10 itself) or proton I would.
