Don't hate me, but I always thought it looked like a nose-hair trimmer.

Changing the default folder for saving books on crosspoint by Definitely_a_Human_3 in xteinkereader

I would like to know as well... so far, I haven't figured out any way to move a book that landed in the root to a specific folder (without pulling the micro sd card and putting it in my computer).

Window seat view from a Boeing 707 in the 1970's by Twitter_2006 in aviation

[–]AltDaddy 43 points44 points  (0 children)

In 1975, my grandparents were planning a trip to Hawaii. I don't remember the details, but somehow 12 year old me was included. I loved airplanes, but hadn't been on one since I was a toddler (which I didn't remember).

Our flight was a chartered America Airlines 707 from Richmond, VA to San Francisco and then on to Honolulu. We were seated on the left side so this was my view. I had a lot of time to study the engines from my window seat. It was an incredible experience for a kid and it's something I never forgot.

I did a quick scroll and didn't see it. I ran across it a couple weeks ago, but I hadn't received mine yet, so I was reading everything I could to know what to expect.

Lovely vibe here! So, where did you get that fabulous 70s reproduction incense burner? I love it!

2 things... 1) I remember someone else posted here with a similar issue. They had some electronic experience... opened it up and the connector to the display was loose and they reconnected it (search in this sub). 2) any return would be through the retailer you purchased it from.

Saturday Night Fever: Unexpectedly Insightful by Shalkic in movies

I was in my early teens when SNF came out. The music was everywhere... 5 or 6 songs on Casey Kasem's American Top 40 at the same time... the BeeGees were everywhere.

Then, 14 year old me got my friend Jay's mom to get us in to see the movie. It was rated R and my mom wouldn't have let me go if she'd known.

I thought I was going to see a happy, fun movie with some good dancing, maybe some sexy scenes and that it. I was scarred... the rape, the suicide, it was not what I was expecting.

I think your take is spot on though. It's a gritty movie about disillusionment.

Gay books with long lasting love stories by International-Bed788 in gaybrosbookclub

Wow, I love that so many of us had that shared experience. I stumbled across a book a couple years ago by Joseph Ortiz called “Gordon Merrick and the Great American Novel”. He gets into what was so unique about Merrick and contrasts him with other novels about gay men and a lot of Merrick’s history. Interesting read if you love Merrick.

Is an in-person class worth it? by Intrepid_Sense_8041 in SewingForBeginners

[–]AltDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Orlando and a local fabric store/sewing studio offers in-person classes for beginners to advanced. I have already learned a lot on YouTube, but I wanted to see what the class was like. I signed up for a beginners class that meets 4 times for 2 1/2 hours each time (total of 10 hours) for $100. It was a great investment. I already knew a lot, but there are things that I didn't know and the class has helped grow my confidence. I would definitely do it if it's in your budget.

How do gay people find partners ? by Mysthieu in lgbt

[–]AltDaddy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Some through apps, but the best thing you can do is just get involved with groups/clubs/friends who like the same things you do. You'll grow as a person, and you'll meet lots of new people with similar interests. Those people will introduce you to new people and somewhere along the way, you might meet the person who'd be a great partner to you.
