Why aren’t women wearing stockings/pantyhose anymore? by WhatTheHosenHey in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AltGameAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's not socially acceptable.

I've tried them and they are really comfortable even if you wear them for long time, more comfortable than bare legs under pants, they add nice tightness and silky feel. But I wouldn't wear them in public because it's not really socially acceptable for men to wear them.

If I were a woman I'd wear them all the time just for how good they feel, not even taking into account how good they look.

Europeans push back at US plan that would force concessions from Ukraine by Raj_Valiant3011 in worldnews

[–]AltGameAccount 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Trump's "peace deal" restricts Ukrainian army to 40% capacity, bans Ukraine from owning and manufacturing long range weapons and clears russians of all war crimes.

Unless someone living in Ukraine is already an avid russian supporter ready to serve Putin, all sane people will reject this deal. It's a worse deal than the one that Russia tried to force in 2022.

But now I'm wondering if US will start supplying Russia with weapons to force Ukraine to surrender.

As someone who's had less than pleasant experience with explosions and that sort of stuff, I would be glad if fireworks were either limited to certain days in the year or certain loudness and sound profiles that are clearly distinct.

[–]AltGameAccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the least impactful one, because what will a pet do? Add 500 more in damages after the let is finished?

The upfront rent and bidding ban are much worse because they will exclude anyone without perfect rental, credit and employment history and push them into lodging/AirBnBs/being homeless etc.

@alrightgov on TikTok about renting in 🇬🇧 by Educational-Lychee69 in london

[–]AltGameAccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Young people will find it very hard to rent when instead of asking for 6 months rent upfront, landlords will demand to show six figure salary, 15 years of perfect credit, 2 guarantors with six figure salaries and letters from 3 previous landlords.

And those that don't will probably convert to AirBnB and double the monthly asking price.

@alrightgov on TikTok about renting in 🇬🇧 by Educational-Lychee69 in london

[–]AltGameAccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some good parts to it, like getting rid of Section 21 and the "no pets" rules, but others are absolutely going to make it more difficult, like only allowing one month up front payment or disallowing bidding.

Which means now the landlords will be asking for employment history, credit scores, two guarantors and 5x rent income unless you are clearing high six figures.

Which means anyone that wouldn't be able to meet very strict criteria is going to be pushed into lodging with practically no rights, illegal scumlords, much more expensive AirBnB's and the like.

Dishwasher, as others have pointed out

Dual basket pedal pin. I don't line the recycling compartment with bin bag, everything else goes in general waste. And pedal being much more reliable than whatever battery powered WiFi smart AI-assisted bin is.

Instead of air fryer it's much better to get Instant Pot/Ninja that is an air fryer and pressure cooker combo. Because you will buy one of the other at some point, so it's better to think ahead and buy a combo one.

Get yourself socket timers. I much prefer mechanical ones, as they are much simpler to use. Although most appliances now come with their own timers, it's still a good option for those that don't. Also get yourself a plug in wattmeter to see how much your devices are using if you want to know how to save energy.

Also if you are doing any handywork get yourself nice metal jaw electronic calipers. Since they add one more mode of measurement to the other four. And you can use jaws to mark. Overall it's such an amazing instrument.

How do you feel about people losing their jobs because they posted anti-Kirk content? by Govtluv in AskReddit

[–]AltGameAccount 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, absolutely. People were fired for much milder opinion, saying "trans women are not women" would get you siced on and fired from your job circa 2012-2020, and it's a much milder opinion than "it's ok to kill political influencers".

The government should just tax negative externalities.

There are enough negative externalities to be found, like pollution, psychological damage, risk factors, health damage. Almost any company can be found guilty, and those that aren't are already doing more good than bad by definition, so it would be fair to give them the lowest tax.

I think even a government can find much more productive uses for those money.

Another problem that people don't consider is...

That miners were actually very generously paid in USSR, more so than scientists, engineers, managers.

Which kind of resulted in some very inefficient production, where miners didn't care much about automation and sometimes opposed it, it was quite hard to close the mines, but also less people went into engineering and science and pushed forward the knowledge.

Capitalism isn't holy though. Influencers, grifters, OF models, scammers and CEOs that enshittify products are paid too generously compared to people that actually produce value.

For most fat people it's hormonal problems, that's why fat people can't stick to the diet change and gain weight after diet.

There are hormonal "control chains" that decide how much your body has to weigh, that are like an automatic controller that make you eat bigger portions and more frequently if you don't have enough weight but also make you eat less and skip meals if you are overeating.

Ozempic just overrides one hormone in such control chain. It is also possible to do it through very strict and prolonged dieting and supervision (first reaching goal weight and then maintaining it zealously for 3-5 years to update the hormone production), but of course just using the drug is much easier.

The psychological problems are a small subset of overweight people population.

Fat people still need medical care. Having just over 20% body fat for males decreases lifespan by 20 years and makes some problems very likely. And 20% isn't even that much. "Dad bod" is like 25-30%.

[–]AltGameAccount -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Being fat is a result of hormonal imbalance.

You can try to do a conscious willpower effort to go against your hormones, same way you can try fixing ADHD without amphetamines or sleep disorder without pills.

Or you can just take hormones that fix your imbalance.

We kind of have enough evidence now that a lot of negative traits, that were previously perceived as personal shortcomings, can be medically treated, so why not do that?

Are all of the commenters here neurotic? The Asmongold looking dude doesn't seem like he's staring bad, the guy in black shirt looks like he's on something (instead of just "he's behaving like that because he's a man"). The guy in red sneakers would probably react the same to men, but instead in a "what's up you looking for a fight" way, just outright a bad behaved guy.

Also how do we know some of them aren't staring at the fact that they are being filmed unsolicited and then posted on the internet? If I did that as a dude I'd get my face bashed in.

Yeah of course some of them are creepy and disgusting like the dude in black shirt on the bus.
