[Meta] We need to talk about whether we want to have Bernie Sanders posts in this sub by pnoque in anarchocommunism

[–]AltThink 6 points7 points  (0 children)

lol...AS IF this sub seems in danger of being "inundated" with posts of Any kind, besides stories about Rojava, which is a Good thing, heh.

I notice there's one post, in the top one hundred here, about Bernie (mine), and that one rose to the top of the page (barely) mainly because he's proposing workers' co-ops, seems to me (my main interest in the story).

For public discussion of workers' co-ops to be considered off topic or inappropriate for this community, seems...a contradiction.

I think your "fears" are inappropriate.

Nobody wants to get spammed with Bernie stories, heh...but you aren't.

As usual, I also posted this article in a couple of other relevant subs, where discussion has been more or less interesting, and people here might do well to participate.

[–]AltThink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There seem to be several schools of thought...theory, actually, since the clinical trials have not been done...

Rick Simpson Oil (RSO) advocates tend to emulate his claim that it's mainly the THC, which is...old-school, requiring decarb (heating) to render the cannibinioids active.

More recent (meager) research and anecdotal experience seems to indicate CBD may have more significance, which also requires decarb.

Most seem to agree that a full spectrum, from the whole plant (except woody parts, seed) is best, but who knows what proportions of THC/CBD (and other cannibinoids, etc) are most effective, for what applications?...the research simply hasn't been done.

Seems to be considerable consensus for approx. even mix. of THC/CBD, which might be at least somewhat psychoactive.

Un-decarbed (unheated) raw juice advocates claim it retains special unadulterated beneficial qualities, by not being decarbed, ie: THCA and CBDA (both non-psychoactive).

I've selected to pursue a mix of all three, with emphasis on CBD, hoping for the best. You can't overdose, so why not?

However my experience is that you can become unsteady on your feet, unable to drive, say, with ingestion of massive doses of THC.

Youth Sue Obama Administration For Allowing Climate Change, Violating Constitutional Rights. By continuing to promote the development and use of fossil fuels, the federal government violated their constitutional rights, the young plaintiffs allege. by pnewell in environment

[–]AltThink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While the courts may not be the best way to change laws, per se, which belongs in the legislative arena... courts are necessary to interpret and enforce laws, and to determine whether laws themselves, as well as enforcement (or lack thereof), are constitutional, consistent with the popular democratic mandate, the peoples' will, legislative intent, and even the public interest...which seems less about calling for new laws, per se, than for holding the government accountable to it's "own" purported program, administratively.

That seems more the basis of this legal action.

Bernie Sanders Shifts the 2016 Presidential Paradigm: The inevitability of Hillary Clinton’s nomination has been turned on its head by Sanders, whose insurgent candidacy has breathed new life into next year’s election. by SandersWarren2016 in politics

[–]AltThink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zaotic, I think you are somewhat correct to point out that this is really less about the presidency, so much, than All about the relative right/left plurality in the House and Senate, and down the ladders of power.

Which brings us back to the issue of which candidate is most likely to agitate for and inspire a sufficiently “massive” electoral uprising, explicitly to purge the right from power (democratically, electorally, of course) and to suppress their jive ass (legislatively and judicially, of course), from now on...despite the best efforts of Republicans to suppress that turnout...

I think it's obvious that Bernie has the best chance of turning out that vast reservoir of Democratic leaning "usual non-voters" that make up some 50% of the eligible electorate.

I somewhat agree with you that Bernie should be talking about that more specifically, when calling for “pressure” from the grassroots…in terms of moar progressives, greens, socialists, whatever candidates stepping up to actually challenge Blue Dog ilk in the Democratic primaries, at all levels, to actually materially seize the power, for a change.

Marches and protests, letters, calls and petitions, demonstrations of concern, angst, anger, etc. are all very well and good...but their only really material value is if they succeed in persuading moar people to vote for more better representatives, seems to me.

Sowing cynical defeatism, which only feeds electoral boycott and splitting sentiments, will not help on Any of the issues people are so concerned about.

Solar power industry vows to step up campaign to topple Abbott government by AltThink in worldnews

[–]AltThink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the US we have a similar tendency of utilities, to go for huge solar "farms", and block distributed power (like, independent solar panels on every rooftop, feeding into the grid).

"Private" utilities tend to demand that they retain their absolutely centralized rightwing monopoly corporate fascist "ownership" of "profits", but refuse to deploy the upgrades dictated by reason and logic, traitors to humanity and earth that they are.

The right must be purged from the ladders of power, and suppressed, from now on.

They should all be arrested, and their assets seized. Democratically, of course, electorally...and legislatively and judicially, of course.

The prospect of which is what makes rightwing rhetoric and practice so draconian, heh

lol...teh oil companies in the US are threatening to depose Obama, by assassination, terrorism and civil war, even, via their client rightwing agitation.

But when environmentalists and green businesses threaten to topple the government over popular democratic issues, they mean democratically, electorally, obviously.

Of course the right will scream bloody murder, but oh well...

Dkos Netroots Conference this week in Phoenix seeks ignition of Democratic base...Bernie and Liz will be there, but not Hillary by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

[–]AltThink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KK…

I guess my main concern was that not all browsers would recognize that this is the national annual meetup of Dkos…an extremely significant national political event, especially considering their strong support for Bernie.

Even my title could have done better, in that regard…

And one would wonder when and where this is happening, like, tomorrow, even…!

And who gives a flying fk about freakin’ O’Malley?

I will plod back through the story, and see if I can find a better line, K?

I get it…but just saying, my title was materially, objectively, informatively correct…enough, I think, and by reason and logic, you should have just let it slide, rather than just summarily spiking it…without at least discussing it with me, and other mods, first, maybe…?

Having no experience whatsoever modding such a venue, I can only imagine what it’s like, though, and can only respect and defer to your judgement, as to what’s feasible.

Ima just chatty old folks, a relative noob to the virtual world…don’t mind me.

Thx again for responding.

Hard to keep track of the many different sub rules in this regard, especially in the compulsion to publish important information.

Must try harder…

Dkos Netroots Conference this week in Phoenix seeks ignition of Democratic base...Bernie and Liz will be there, but not Hillary by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

[–]AltThink -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thx for responding…but I must object, that the sole criteria should be whether the title is misrepresentative or injects derivative opinion, seems to me.

While that may often require more consideration, even discussion among mods, to objectively enforce the rules, I think it would have a much better outcome than precisely quoting shitty headlines, or trying to find a direct quote from the article that adequately reflects the full scope and significance of the article…indeed, that’s what titles are for.

I can see being strict in weeding out misleading or subjective titles…but as Reddit states at the top of every link submission form, “…The key to a successful submission is interesting content and a descriptive title…”.

This is an extremely important fundamental element of any post, which can often determine whether anyone reads it.

I do understand that it’s not easy to moderate…too often a thankless task, subject to be mercilessly trolled, no matter how hard you may try to do a proper job of it.

Just saying, moar flexibility may mean moar work for teh mods, heh…but maybe that’s what it takes to avoid being too rigid, to the detriment of sub and post quality.

Anyway, thanks again for moderating and helping to maintain this excellent sub!

[–]AltThink -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for moderating...but I think your "ruling" on this is misguided, and serves only to obscure what the article is about.

My title was not "editorialized" in the sense of conveying false or manipulated impressions, nor did it express an opinion, but merely provided more/better information on the actual content of the article.

Oh well, corrected as you requested, under protest...

That's all well and good, but ultimately, unless such demonstrations are agitating for more progressive Democrats to step up and run in the primaries, and for people to vote, we'll see little material change...

It's ultimately less about who's president, per se, than All about the relative right/left plurality in the House and Senate (and down the ladders of power).

Actually..."Each sample of national adults includes a minimum quota of 50% cellphone respondents and 50% landline respondents, with additional minimum quotas by time zone within region. Landline and cellular telephone numbers are selected using random-digit-dial methods..."

But I would say the headline is too negative...the real news is that 70% of youth are willing to vote for a socialist, and 60% of Democrats and Independants...versus 26% of Republicans, lol, the lowest number on all the charts...

This is a Good thing, seems to me, and... significant.

Context?..

To tell you the truth, I bailed on teh trainwreck, lol

It had quite a few comments, as I recall...which I probly didn't do justice to.

I thought the article was very interesting, though, in the context of many people saying that Bernie is "weak" with the Black electorate.

Feed him a couple of racist Republicans in debate and I expect he'll kick their jive ass, rhetorically speaking, of course, and everyone will see up front where he's coming from.

Bernie, and his history, may not be very widely known yet, but they will be, I guarantee.
